Sutil hoping to make amends at Monza

The German qualified only 11th at Spa, while team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella claimed pole position and went on to finish second, and believes that he can lead the team to another strong result following the departure of his more experienced team-mate to Ferrari.

"It was definitely a missed opportunity," said Sutil when asked by AUTOSPORT whether he was keen to make up for Spa. "The speed was there, we saw it in free practice, but a wrong decision in qualifying destroyed the weekend.

"Spa was a very special race weekend for us, everything went perfectly for Giancarlo, he had a great race and it's hard to beat this - but it is possible.

"The car is really good right now, so hopefully it will have the same speed at Monza. It's all about having the right strategy.

"I missed the opportunity at Spa a little bit and here I see similar chances and want to do it."

Sutil emphasised that qualifying could be the key to the weekend for him and new team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi.

"It is very important to have a good grid position and I want to make sure I am perfect in qualifying and not make any mistakes with the tyres," said Sutil.

"There are a few more cars with KERS here, which is a good advantage, so it could be more difficult, but it is so tight.

"If you have a good lap, you can jump a few positions and make it into Q3. From there, it's on strategy."

The German, who only has one point in 47 grand prix starts, insists that the pressure of now being Force India team leader will not hinder his performance.

"There's always a little bit of pressure," said Sutil. "I just feel that there is a chance to get into the points and I'm excited about that.

"I don't feel negative pressure. It's just adrenalin and I really am enjoying the situation of being able to say that we have a great car."
