FIA seeks French GP future clarification
The FIA has written to the French motorsport federation asking for clarification about the future of the French Grand Prix, after it was announced earlier this week that next year's event had been cancelled
The FFSA issued a press release on Tuesday stating that it did not wish to continue promoting the event, and therefore the 2009 race scheduled for Magny-Cours on June 28 had been cancelled.
But with motor racing's governing body having not yet been officially informed of the situation, a letter has been written to FFSA president Nicholas Deschaux asking for an update on the FFSA's position.
An FIA spokesman was quoted as saying by Reuters: "The FIA secretary general has written to the president of the FFSA today to seek an urgent clarification of the situation of the French Grand Prix.
"Up until today we have heard nothing and we are gravely concerned."
The FFSA is considering six options for a future return of the French GP. They are at Yvelines (Flins), Magny-Cours 2, and four locations near Paris - Gonesse, Domaine de Ferrieres, Disney Marne la Vallee and Sarcelles.
