Grapevine: Webber unveils Tasmania race team
Australian Mark Webber has publicly unveiled his team for the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
British rower and Olympic dual gold medallist James Cracknell, Australian ironman Guy Andrews, and Tasmanian adventure racer Matt Dalziel will join Webber's Pure Tasmania team for the six-day race around Tasmania next month.
The Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge takes place in Tasmania from 5-10 November 2006 and will raise funds for the Cancer Council of Tasmania's Cancer Plus program and TLC for Kids.
"This year the challenge will be a true race, with 12 teams competing against each other in timed stages," Webber said. "Knowing Tim Saul (Race Director) like I do, I'm sure he's put together another extremely demanding course, and it will take it out of us both physically and mentally.
"Driving an F1 car at high speeds for up to two hours is tiring, but tackling the Tasmanian environment for up to 14 hours a day for six days is something different altogether.
"I'm looking forward to joining the other competitors in this test of endurance and ability - it will certainly teach us a lot about our physical and mental capabilities in such challenging conditions."
