Montagny waits for French GP confirmation
Franck Montagny looks set to race for the Super Aguri team in front of his home crowd at this weekend's French Grand Prix
"I believe so, but it's not sure yet," he told Reuters on Tuesday when asked whether he would be on the starting grid at Magny-Cours.
"I believe I'm going to race this weekend but I will know better tomorrow."
Montagny replaced under-performing Japanese rookie Yuji Ide in May and has competed in the last six races for the Formula One newcomers. He has finished two of them.
Montagny, a former Renault tester, was confirmed as a race driver only up to the U.S. Grand Prix earlier this month.
Super Aguri, whose other driver is the experienced Takuma Sato, are keen to return to an all-Japanese line-up and have Sakon Yamamoto gaining experience as a Friday tester before stepping up to the race seat.
Montagny would be the only French driver in Sunday's race.
Super Aguri were due to debut their new car at Magny-Cours, the 11th round of the 18-race season, but have deferred that to the German race at Hockenheim on July 28-30.
