Massa boosted by maiden podium

Brazilian Felipe Massa says his maiden Formula One podium has given him extra motivation to continue improving his results

Massa, joining Michael Schumacher at Ferrari this season, finished a close third in last weekend's European Grand Prix, behind championship leader Fernando Alonso and race winner Schumacher, for his best finish in 58 race starts.

"I think first of all it gives you happiness and more motivation to do the same job," Massa said ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix about his maiden podium. "It was important for me, a great result.

"It was fantastic to be on the podium."

Massa worked with a new race engineer at the Nurburgring race, switching from Gabriele delli Colli to Rob Smedley.

The Brazilian driver admitted the change had been beneficial for him.

"For sure if you have an engineer in Ferrari it should be a good engineer," he said. "My last engineer was definitely a very good engineer. The problem was a little bit the organisation and on the radio.

"I was confident in my new engineer, talking about everything about what was going on during the race weekend."
