BRDC rebels defeated in EGM

An official vote among members of the British Racing Drivers Club has ended with a majority vote in favour of the current Board of Directors

Furthermore, all resolutions brought against the Board - including an attempt to replace the current Board with a new temporary one - were defeated with a majority vote.

The BRDC members met this morning for an Extraordinary General Meeting, and with the proposals against the Board taken off the table, all members are now taking part in the Annual General Meeting, which will mark the end of Jackie Stewart's tenure as the club's president.

The members are expected to elect former world champion Damon Hill as Stewart's replacement.

In a joint statement after this morning's EGM, Stewart and Board chairman Stuart Rolt said: "This morning's votes are an expression of confidence in the democratically elected Board.

"It is time we all worked together and got on with the task of developing Silverstone as the home of British motorsport, retaining the Grand Prix and looking after the interests of all our Club Members."
