Montoya in no hurry to decide future

Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya says he is in no hurry to decide his future and has claimed he will only make a decision at the end of the year

Montoya's contract with McLaren expires at the end of 2006, and the team have already announced Fernando Alonso will take one of the seats next season.

"At the moment I'm concentrating more on this season, on the fact that I'm here at McLaren. I only try to do my job the best I can and, when the time will come, we'll take the best decision for myself," Montoya said.

"Yes, at the end of the year," said the Colombian when asked about a deadline. "It's always better to know what you will do by the end of the year."

The Colombian's teammate Kimi Raikkonen's contract also ends this year and the Finn is still to make up his mind, making things difficult for drivers like Montoya, who are waiting for Raikkonen to decide before they can see what drives are available.

"I'm looking around like everyone else, but around you can't hear anything but talks of Raikkonen going to Ferrari," Montoya told Autosprint. "Or there are people saying he wants Renault, or he wants BMW, etcetera...

"All you hear about is Kimi."

Montoya, however, is not worried about finding himself with no options.

"There could be a place available at Toyota, BMW will have to try to improve, and the same goes for Renault. If you look around there's nothing but available seats!"
