Speed Hoping to Drive Third Red Bull

The GP2 driver will test for Red Bull at Silverstone tomorrow as the team assess the American.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said over the weekend the team will decide if Speed lands the third seat based on his performance at Silverstone.

The American said he would be delighted to get the opportunity.

"It is quite exciting," Speed said of driving on Fridays. "It's great: F1 and the whole crowd and all the things that go with it are awesome, but at the end of the day you are still trying to go fast."

Wednesday's will be the second time Speed tests for Red Bull, having made his Formula One debut with them at Barcelona earlier this year.

"All the seat time you can get in a F1 car is helpful," Speed added. "It is quite a different driving style to the GP2 cars, so it requires experience."

Red Bull have so far used Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi and Austrian Christian Klien as their third drivers. Klien will race at the Canadian Grand Prix after Liuzzi competed in the last four races.
