Blundell to Stand Down from BRDC

The club has been in turmoil since a public spat between former chairman Ray Bellm and current president Sir Jackie Stewart over the future of the British Grand Prix last year.

Stewart's position was supported by the members in a recent extraordinary general meeting but Blundell has decided to stand down from his role as director because of other commitments.

"I am not standing for re-election," said Blundell, who confirmed he will remain a member. "The only reason why I am standing down in that way is because I am too busy with other businesses.

"We have set up a new management company with me and Martin Brundle and we have got to work on that. The BRDC takes up quite a bit of time as a voluntary role, so that's why I am standing down."

But Blundell was still keen to steer clear of discussing over the current situation inside the club, which holds the rights to promote the British Grand Prix at its Silverstone base.

Asked what the atmosphere was like in the club he said: "I couldn't really answer that at the moment because technically I am still a director until another two weeks' time and it wouldn't be very professional to comment."
