Ralf believes in Michelin advantage
Williams' Ralf Schumacher blitzed the field in final practice this morning (Saturday) and came within a tenth of Kimi Raikkonen's pole time in qualifying. The battle for supremacy over team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya was equally tight, with just 0.15s separating the pair in third and fourth places
The Colombian performed the perfect fluke in the first sector of his flying lap, posting an identical sector time to Ralf's. The rivalry between the two is no secret and it will be vital that this doesn't lead to any first corner 'misunderstandings' in the race tomorrow.
"Third and fourth are good positions to start from," said Ralf, "especially for me, as I'm on the cleaner side of the track. We have been experiencing difficulties here but today's result proves we are going in the right direction with the FW25 - especially as Kimi, Michael and myself are so close together.
"We have made the right tyre choice and I also believe Michelin has an advantage at this track. It's going to be a long, hot and interesting race tomorrow."
"I am obviously a bit disappointed as I was expecting more from today's qualifying," said Montoya. "The balance of the car wasn't quite as good as it was this morning, and this cost me a place in the top three. However, the car has been good in the last few races and I am confident we have a good strategy."
