Arrows to appeal entry rejection
Arrows will launch an appeal against the decision of motorsport governing body the FIA to reject the team's entry for the 2003 Formula 1 world championship
The FIA released the entry list yesterday (Monday), with only 10 teams named. Arrows was informed that its entry had been turned down.
A statement from the team today claimed that it was "very surprised" at the FIA's decision. It has pledged to continue negotiations to sell the team with German company Asset Trust and Partners, representing Arab backers.
The statement read: "Arrows is very surprised at being omitted from the list of entrants for the 2003 FIA Formula 1 World Championship published yesterday. Arrows confirms that it has served notice to the FIA of its intention to appeal to the appropriate body for a hearing to resolve this issue.
"Arrows remains committed to securing the future of the team."
Exactly when, where and how the appeal will be heard is not yet clear. But until the team's place in F1 is secure, a deal to buy the team will be very hard to complete. Without an entry, the team's worth is greatly reduced.
