Montoya sore after crash
Juan Pablo Montoya is looking for a quiet night in Suzuka after receiving a hefty wallop after crashing his Williams with just minutes left of Friday's free practice
The Colombian was looking to improve on fourth position when he took a trip over the gravel at Degner Curve and made heavy contact with the tyre barrier.
"The impact was hard and I am still a bit sore," he admitted. " It was a smooth session if it hadn't been for the last part of it. I went over the sharp part of the kerb and lost the car. With regards to the balance of my car there's still room for improvement."
Ralf Schumacher had a spin earlier in the session, but avoided making contact with anything solid. Despite ending the session behind his team-mate, he was far happier with the handling of the FW24.
"I had a good free practice session where we tried all that was scheduled and we have also made some progress with regards to the tyre choice," he said. "I am quite happy with the balance of my car."
