Grand Prix Ball changes for 2003
The Grand Prix Ball, fast becoming the traditional curtain-raiser for each Formula 1 season, is changing venue for next year
The event, which includes F1's own version of the Academy Awards known as 'The Bernies', will move from the Royal Albert Hall to the NEC complex in Birmingham.
It will be held on January 11th to coincide with the Autosport International show, which is also held at the NEC.
Along with the 'F1 Academy Awards', the evening brings together the world of motorsport with that of music. Last year Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones was one of the star acts, appearing on stage with former world champion Damon Hill.
More 'Bernies' than ever before will be awarded this year, with the winners voted for by an academy of leading F1 figues, including Bernie Ecclestone himself, along with readers of F1 Racing, The Sun and viewers of ITV's grand prix coverage.
All the money raised at the Ball goes to Professor Sid Watkins' charity the Brain and Spine Foundation.
