Pollock rules out another team bid

The Scot, who stepped aside when David Richards took over BAR last Christmas, had been close to finalising a deal with Tom Walkinshaw for Arrows. But Walkinshaw has chosen to work with an American investor - belived to be industrialist Cal Smith - instead.

Pollock told Autosport.com that his plan to take over Arrows does not mean that he is determined to get back into running a team at any cost.

When asked if he would consider setting up a brand new team, he said: "No, I don't think so. It's dead in the water. I think today to start up afresh you need a manufacturer behind you to do it logically. [Arrows] was one of the last avenues that was worth approaching."

He ruled out the likelihood of buying up another team instead, using the example of Minardi. "At the moment I'm definitely not willing to look at Minardi, because I don't want to take on all the Italian problems," he said. "Doing 'due diligence' in the UK is difficult, but not as difficult as doing it in Italy. And I don't speak Italian!"

Pollock says that he will continue in his role as a board member of BAR and as Jacques Villeneuve's manager.
