Frentzen delighted with 10th
Throughout free practice for the Spanish GP Arrows, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen in particular, had been a regular feature in the top 10. The team hoped to capitalise on Bridgestone's advantage to repeat this form in qualifying, but even though the tyre war proved to be evenly match, Frentzen was able to find his way into 10th on the grid
"Top 10 is great for the team and I'm pleased because the boys all did a very good job today," said the German. "Results like this also help to lift the team. We have showed that both cars are competitive here and, as our race pace is still stronger than our qualifying pace, we're hopeful of a good day tomorrow."
The team's technical director Mike Coughlan admitted that he was slightly surprised with the showing, but backs Frentzen's assertion that Arrows will be even stronger tomorrow.
"Well we knew we had to beat one of the top five teams to get into the top 10 and I have to say that I'm surprised it was a Sauber," he said. "We have shown our competitiveness all weekend and both drivers did a very good job today. The Bridgestone tyres certainly look very strong for the race so we're optimistic."
