Valencia, day 2: DC fastest
The McLaren team continued to show Williams the way in testing at the Valencia circuit in Spain on Thursday, with David Coulthard and test driver Alexander Wurz proving faster than Juan-Pablo Montoya and Marc Gene
Coulthard managed 77 laps to set a time nearly four tenths of a second better than Wurz. Meanwhile, Montoya was a second and a half off the Scot's best.
But with the Williams pair completing 684km over the day, test team manager Tim Newton was still upbeat.
"We have spent an enormous amount of time preparing cars late into the night on Monday and Tuesday. Many of the test team have worked some extremely long hours with maybe three hours sleep for two nights in succession.
"Coming at the end of one of the longest winters of testing, I have to thank the dedication and commitment of everybody involved to keep the programme running today, and we managed to generate useful data and ticked some important pre-Melbourne jobs off the list."
