McLaren launch: DC ignores opinion
David Coulthard has refused to rise to comments from world champion Michael Schumacher that Williams will provide a bigger threat to his crown than McLaren this year
Speaking earlier in the week at Ferrari annual skiiing trip, Schumacher said that the growth in competitiveness of Williams-BMW could be a problem for him this year. But he raised doubts that Coulthard and McLaren will be able to sustain a challenge over the length of a full season.
But Coulthard refused to get into a war of words at the launch of this year's McLaren-Mercedes MP4-17 in Barcelona this morning.
"I have a healthy respect for Michael's abilities and think clearly that he's the bench mark in Formula 1," said the Scot. "But I don't care what his opinions on other teams' chances and other drivers' chances are. I would value his opinion on track safety or issues that we can have common ground on. But just him having an opinion...opinions are like arseholes, we've all got one."
