Raikkonen targets race victories
McLaren new boy Kimi Raikkonen says that he hopes to win at least one race in his second season of racing in the Formula 1 World Championship
The 21-year-old Finn, who replaced fellow countryman Mika Hakkinen at the Woking based team, is one of many drivers tipped to challenge for 2002 victories.
"I just hope that I will win at least one race and get as many podiums as possible," Raikkonen told AUTOSPORT. "It is hard to say what is going to happen before the season starts so I will just have to get used to the car and the team and then we will see."
If he is to fulfil his ambitions and challenge for race wins, Raikkonen will have to beat the cream of the crop. Not only will the Finn have to get the better of the Schumacher brothers and Juan Pablo Montoya, he will also have to beat his team-mate, David Coulthard.
"I will try to beat him and I think every team-mate tries to beat each other but it is a bit too early to say because we haven't worked together much," added Raikkonen. "Of course, when the races come, you sometimes work against each other."
