Coulthard aims for the simple life
McLaren's David Coulthard has said that simplifying his lifestyle is the key to challenging Michael Schumacher and Ferrari for next year's Formula 1 World Championship, according to this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
The Scot finished in a career-best second place this year and is aiming to go on step further in 2002. He will begin his campaign when the testing ban ends on January 7 next year.
"I've mentally set my sights on being 100 percent prepared by then," he told AUTOSPORT. "I want everything in my life sorted out. I want to make sure I've got no excuses or distractions."
"That self analysis is good, it helps you stay focused on the job. You ask yourself how do you do the best job. And that is by not having anything else on your mind other than driving Grands Prix."
Coulthard has been at the McLaren factory this week to finalise his seating position in its 2002 challenger, which is currently under construction at Woking.
