Barcelona test, day 2: Wurz first
The Austrian's best lap of 1m20.370s was half a second quicker than Ralf Schumacher's, who was next up for Williams. It was also faster than Eddie Irvine's pace-setting lap from the first of this three-day test
Irvine was third quickest today, just a tenth of a second shy of Schumacher. Williams and Benetton test drivers Marc Gene and Mark Webber were fourth and fifth.
Swiss DTM racer Marcel Fassler got his first chance to test for McLaren. The Mercedes racer had been due to run at Silverstone after the Italian Grand Prix, but only managed a single installation lap before McLaren pulled him out of the car because of the wet and tricky conditions.
This time he managed 53 laps and was 2.3 seconds off Wurz in his first F1 run.
