F1 70th Anniversary GP qualifying - Start time, how to watch & more

Formula 1 stays at Silverstone for the middle part of the latest triple-header with the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix. Here's how to watch qualifying

Lewis Hamilton led a Mercedes 1-2 at the end of Friday practice after team-mate Valtteri Bottas, fresh from confirming his new deal at the F1 world champion for 2021, topped FP1.

While Mercedes dominated the timesheets once again at Silverstone, after Hamilton won a dramatic British GP last weekend crossing the finish line on three wheels, there was plenty of drama off track revolving around Racing Point.

On Friday morning, Sergio Perez was ruled out of this weekend's F1 race due to a positive COVID-19 test meaning stand-in replacement Nico Hulkenberg continues to drive for the team alongside Lance Stroll.

After that, the long-awaited FIA decision on Racing Point's copying hearing was released; with the Silverstone-based team given a 15-point deduction to its F1 world constructors' championship tally and a 400,000 Euros fine after the governing body upheld Renault's protest against its brake ducts.

Back on track, Sebastian Vettel endured a disappointing end to FP2 following his recent struggles for Ferrari as he suffered a major engine problem which forced him to pull off track with fluid leaking from his car.

Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi also stopped at the side of the track with a suspected power unit issue, which ultimately red-flagged the final few minutes of the afternoon practice session.

Behind the Mercedes duo, Renault's Daniel Ricciardo jumped into third place in FP2 ahead of former team-mate Max Verstappen for Red Bull, with Racing Point pair Stroll and Hulkenberg in fifth and sixth respectively.
