Coulthard sticks by Hakkinen...
David Coulthard insists his McLaren-Mercedes team mate Mika Hakkinen can still win the world title, despite being marooned on just four points with six races down
The Finn stalled on the grid in Austria, and with the season a third over he is yet to win a race or even get on the podium.
Hakkinen rejoined the race two laps down but was called in by the team shortly afterwards because he had clutch problems as well.
Even though the twice world champion is 38 points behind points-leader Michael Schumacher and 34 behind Coulthard, the Scot says Hakkinen is not out of the running.
"There is still a lot to play for," said Coulthard after his second victory of the year. "None of us has a crystal ball and can look into the future. In theory the guys at the front of the championship might not finish a few races and Mika could win a few and he'll be there again.
"But you're only an outside chance when the points don't add up. Naturally the further back you are the more difficult it is," he concluded.
