Here's our report from the first day of pre-season testing, with Daniel Ricciardo leading the way on times and number of laps completed.

Thanks for sticking with us through the afternoon - we'll have plenty of reaction to today's on-track action later on Autosport and Motorsport.com, and be sure to join us again tomorrow when testing resumes.
F1 testing 2018: Red Bull's Ricciardo ends Barcelona day one on top
A cold, wet and underwhelming end to the day, but we had plenty to get our teeth into earlier on when the weather was better. We've got more analysis to do on how the cars performed, but in terms of reliability the Renault-powered teams and Honda's new partner Toro Rosso can have a lot to smile about. McLaren's only major problem wasn't engine related this time, either!
Alonso and Ricciardo have taken advantage of being on track at the end of the day to get some wet practice starts in.
Day one order: 1 Ricciardo, 2 Bottas, 3 Raikkonen, 4 Hulkenberg, 5 Alonso, 6 Sainz, 7 Hamilton, 8 Hartley, 9 Stroll, 10 Grosjean, 11 Ericsson, 12 Mazepin, 13 Sirotkin.

Chequered flag. Day one of 2018 F1 testing is over. Red Bull on top.
Two minutes left on the clock. Now Red Bull has cleared 100, keeping track of every lap Ricciardo completes feels less relevant. He's up to 101 now, for those who have more enthusiasm for such things than we do right now.
Red fl- Just kidding! 100 laps for Red Bull, which tops the times and the lap count on day one of the first test of 2018.

Alonso pits, so Ricciardo will have the track to himself to hit the 100-lap mark. Imagine if our next post was 'red flag'.

Ricciardo starts lap 100 - Red Bull's target for day one of testing this year...
We know you're all itching to compare these nearly-6pm cold-and-wet lap times from Ricciardo and Alonso. 2m08s for Ricciardo last time by, 2m14s for Alonso. Gripping.
Toro Rosso have wheeled their car out into the pit lane, but it appears to be only for some pit stop practice.
Ricciardo starts lap 98 on full wets, while a few seconds later Alonso is wheelspinning his way out of the final corner in the McLaren.

If you've stuck with us all through this afternoon for weather updates and lap count facts of questionable accuracy, we really do appreciate it.
96 laps in the books for Ricciardo now. 100 looms...
Well this is unexpected. As a few teams give up for the day, understandably, we now have a third car on track. Sirotkin's Williams heads out. He's unlikely to be able to improve on his 'best' time of 1m44.1s, so he's going to end the day 23.9 seconds 'off the pace'.
Ricciardo and Alonso head back out to slither around some more in the rain. There's still time for Red Bull to reach its 100-lap target, and to turn our previous inaccurate declaration that the team topped the mileage chart for today into the truth. It's been a long day.
We take it all back, Red Bull. The combined totals of Hulkenberg and Sainz in fact mean Renault has completed the most laps today with 99. Ricciardo leads the individual driver total with 94, one ahead of Hartley.

Another team throws the towel in...
One lap for Ricciardo, this time on full-wets, and he's wheeled back into the garage. Red Bull now sits alone at the top of the lap count list, one ahead of Toro Rosso. Harsh, guys.
Ricciardo splutters out of the pits, so Red Bull has no interest in letting Toro Rosso and Honda having the most-laps-completed title, even if it was shared.
The 'afternoon' drivers who have really lost out with this weather are Hamilton, Sainz and Sirotkin, completing 25, 26 and 21 laps respectively. Their team-mates (Bottas, Hulkenberg, Stroll) managed 58, 73 and 46 before lunch.

If Red Bull and Toro Rosso stay in the garage for the rest of the day (so another 26 minutes), they will end day one tied for the most laps (93).
Back to the pits for Alonso. He's crept up to 42 laps for the day, having lost so much time this morning after a wheel came loose and he spun into the gravel at the final corner.
Yes, Kevin, that's rain you can see (LAT Images)

Alonso cruises by kicking up some spray on a set of intermediates, while Ericsson pits after what was probably quite an unpleasant lap on slicks.

Yeah, we're going to finally say it's officially raining.

Ricciardo is back in the pits at the end of lap 93 and this time the Red Bull is switched off. On his previous visit he did a long stop with the engine running - it would take a while for even an F1 car to overheat in this weather.
Haas is the first team to (formally, at least) end its Monday running.
Here's current lap count leader Hartley in action a little earlier this afternoon. Toro Rosso - and, more so, Honda - will no doubt be chuffed with the mileage he's clocked up in the STR13 today (LAT Images)

And Ricciardo goes out again. There's a bit more rain in the air now, but if he keeps going he might limp past Red Bull's 100-lap target for the day.
Ricciardo comes in. That intermediate-tyre run has taken him to 91 laps for the day, leaving Red Bull two laps behind little brother (or sister) Toro Rosso.
