Verstappen is 0.17s off of Hamilton, as Bottas separates the two.
Pirelli estimates the delta between softs and mediums here is about 0.9s - but there's also the chance to avoid the soft tyres for the race tomorrow. It's bit of a conundrum
Plenty of rush from the front-runners to get out of the pits and get a lap in. Softs for everyone - will anyone risk a medium-tyre run for glory?
Gasly dropped a "putain" after his lap in disappointment, having suffered from understeer during his last run.
Like the rest of the weekend has been, it's currently Bottas from Hamilton. The two Red Bulls are in third and fourth, with Perez, Leclerc, Stroll, Ocon, Norris and Kvyat in that top 10 of Q1.
Russell apologises for his lap after clipping the gravel at Turn 7 - even though he improved on his previous run.
"Did we go through or not?" Vettel enquires. "Yep, we did", comes the reply, which Vettel says "oh".
Eliminated from Q1: 16. Gasly, 17. Giovinazzi, 18. Russell, 19. Latifi, 20. Magnussen
Gasly was dumped out of qualifying after Vettel improved, a little bit hero-to-zero for the French driver.
Last weekend's winner Gasly also can't progress from Q1!
Raikkonen and Grosjean get out of the drop zone, as does Giovinazzi with their final runs. That relegates the Williams pair into the dropzone.
Stroll's got a new engine cover and bargeboard package, as Perez has the old-spec owing to his lower position in the drivers' championship.
Perez gets up to P4 with that second lap, a tenth clear of Stroll.
The drivers in the dropzone have all hit the circuit, as have the other drivers from Perez downwards. Hamilton also goes out too.
Perez gets out on track, which is otherwise unoccupied at the moment as we hit a lull.
The current drop zone is: 16. Gasly, 17. Raikkonen, 18. Russell, 19. Grosjean, 20. Magnussen.
Russell has another dip at a lap, going 17th - at least, until Latifi goes 13th to drop him down a spot.
Albon now shuffles Leclerc out of sixth, with a time just 0.01s off of Perez.
Leclerc gets himself into sixth for now - but Vettel only sits 11th at the moment.
Bottas has been the quicker of the two Mercedes in the middle sector - and it seems that most time can be found there.
Verstappen slots into third with a 1m16.3s, just over half a second off the Merc duo.
That's Bottas with a 1m15.749s to go top - Hamilton was briefly fastest, but was pipped by a few tenths.
Sainz and Norris are split by Giovinazzi for the time being - McLaren has struggled so far this weekend, following the team's heroics last weekend at Monza.
Stroll rolls to the top, with a 1m16.701s - with Perez slotting into second.
We've got a fleet of more cars hitting the road, as the Williams duo retreats to the pitlane.
Latifi goes a few hundredths faster, setting a 1m17.924s.
Russell, earlier today, had a brake-by-wire failure - so he'll be looking to get some mileage in during this session.
Latifi and Russell are the first men out, Williams looking to clear Q1.
Only a few minutes until we get underway here - as our Tuscan raiders take to the circuit for the quickest laps they've done this weekend.
It's hot at Mugello - air temperature's at 29 degrees C, track temp at 46 degrees, with 0% risk of rain.
Just under 10 minutes until the drivers tackle the Mugello circuit in full qualifying trim. First stop, Q1.
For those joining us having missed the practice sessions, the Mugello circuit is a real treat for the drivers. Fast, winding, and hard on the tyres - so the drivers will be challenged this afternoon.
If practice is anything to go by, there should be plenty of teams in the mix for a good result here - so quali promises to be a hugely interesting session.
And we're back, with 20 minutes to go until we go qualifying at Mugello!
It is the usual quick turnaround before qualifying which gets underway at 14:00 BST time (15:00 local time) so we'll be back in action to bring you live pre-qualifying coverage in a little over an hour. Ciao until then!
