The Red Bull Ring - formerly known as the A1-Ring - is only a short lap, so lots of cars comes with lots of traffic. Just the enfeebled Gasly and the two Mercs have not hit the track.
We're away! And there's plenty of drivers wanting to get onto the track.
It would be frightfully ironic if a race sponsored by a water tech company welcomed a wet race. In an Alanis Morrisette kind of way, at least...
Air pressure is currently at 938 mBars - so as the pressure has fallen, clouds may accumulate and produce rainfall. Fun fact, I guess.
When it rains, it...might pour? Risk of rain is pegged at 80% for this session, which might put an emphasis on early running.
However, this morning's P2-man Gasly will not be participating in this session - Honda has detected something wrong with his power unit.
This morning, Max Verstappen was fastest ahead of Pierre Gasly, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
The driver controls have changed this weekend - everyone's brought their Styrian wheels. WOW, tough crowd.
Good afternoon! Are you ready for some sweet Styria action? Would you like me to word it less creepily? Okay!
That's all from us for this morning - we'll be back for FP2 at 2pm BST.
And that's all from FP1 for today. Verstappen was quickest with a 1m05.910s, followed by Gasly - two tenths slower - and Hamilton
Bit of a close call there between Bottas and one of the AlphaTauris...
Contrary to popular belief, George Russell is driving the Williams this session - Nissany will drive in FP1 next weekend
20 minutes to go, and Verstappen leads from Gasly and Hamilton, with Bottas in fourth
Verstappen breaks into the 1m05s with a 1m05.910s - the quickest time so far
Both AlphaTauris looking quick so far! Tsunoda is currently P3, with Gasly in P5
More lap times deleted at Turn 9, this time for Mazepin and Alonso (again)
Sainz lost it at Turn 1 but has managed to get things going again now
Yellow flag in sector 1 - Carlos Sainz has spun at the pitlane exit
20 minutes down, 40 to go, and Verstappen leads from Gasly and Perez
Verstappen's response to hearing his track time had been deleted? "Lovely."
A few times deleted already for exceeding track limits at Turns 9 and 10 - Verstappen, Gasly, Alonso and Hamilton all caught out so far
But Verstappen goes quicker, breaking into the 1m06s', with a 1m06.936s
Hamilton sets the quickest flying lap so far after five minutes, with a 1m07.809s
Roy Nissany is also filling in for George Russell at Williams for this session
Brief yellow flag after Robert Kubica, filling in for Kimi Raikkonen, lost the rear at Turn 3
A flurry of traffic out on track, with 15 of the 20 drivers making their way out of the garages
Last time out in France, Bottas topped the first practice session, leading from Hamilton and Verstappen. Will the order be the same today? Let's find out.
The risk of rain for FP1 is currently 40%, with humidity at 47%
The air temperature at the Red Bull Ring is currently 23.4C, with the track at 46C
Welcome to the Styrian Grand Prix, where FP1 is set to get underway in 10 minutes time
