That's why the young Brazilian isn't hanging around, having already notched up six laps in the session with a best effort of 56.249s. Nobody else has ventured out of the garages yet.

“Balance is pretty good right now, just gotta get used to the speed again,” Fittipaldi radios to his Haas team. Easy to forget it is his F1 debut with everything that’s happened over the last week.
Fittipaldi is the first out on the track for Haas as TV cameras cut to Grosjean taking a stroll down the paddock. It is still incredible to see the Frenchman walking around after his horrendous crash last Sunday.

Anyway, off we go for FP3 at the Bahrain 'Thruxton layout'.
Earlier this week Norris described this track layout like Thruxton and the thought of modern F1 cars charging around the Hampshire circuit is frankly a delightful but scary idea. The McLaren driver isn't far off on that comparison.

Sun
Weather report time: 0% chance of rain as the sun sets and darkness descends over the Bahrain International Circuit. Air temperature is currently at 25.0oC, and track temp is 29.9oC, but expect those to dip as the night progresses.
But before that FP3 is coming up, where Russell could produce a clean sweep of practice top spots. Bottas, and a handful of others, will want to put a stop to that.
Russell, the star driver under the night sky yesterday, will have even more attention today given his Mr Saturday tag. He's never been out-qualified by a team-mate in his F1 career and it will be an intriguing subplot if he can retain that record.

Grand Prix editor Alex Kalinauckas delved into the story of Friday practice ahead of the Sakhir GP and what the rest of the weekend may throw up:

Yesterday acted as a (semi) venture into the unknown around Bahrain's outer loop circuit which proved to be tough on cars and tricky to perfect with the wiggly middle sector of the 'almost oval'. No doubt all teams and drivers will be thankful for the 60-minute FP3 coming up.
