Right, so we have a new resumption order - and Hamilton will start ahead of Antonelli. It'll be Verstappen, Leclerc, Hamilton, Antonelli, Norris, Russell, Piastri, Lindblad, Colapinto, Gasly, and Hulkenberg.

So, presumably they've gone back a lap and it's helped Hamilton and Gasly out immeasurably. Anyone who stopped before the red flag has moved back up a place.

We're just waiting for a new start time, as we get a view of Antonelli talking to the Pirelli engineer.

You can cut the tension with a cricket stump.

Lawson, Sainz, Hirakawa, Albon, and Perez will be pushed to the front so they can unlap themselves.

The barrier seems to be fixed, so we should be good to go soon.

Yeah, Gasly definitely got the light there - and the stewards will determine whether he should've stopped in time.

Probably yes.

Gasly has been flagged for leaving the pit exit under a red light, which should be pretty cut and dried if he did do it.

But maybe it's that cross-over where he's got it just as he's leaving. Race control will have a look.

So it's Verstappen, Leclerc, Antonelli, Hamilton, Norris, Russell, Lindblad, Piastri, Colapinto, and Hulkenberg in the top 10. Bearman and Bortoleto will be on the cusp of potential points at the restart. Gasly, Hadjar, Lawson, Sainz, Hirakawa, and Albon should be our order.

Certainly a reprieve for those who either lost places at the start, or - in Hadjar's case, took a big whack on the first lap.

Free tyre choice for everyone at this point under the red flag: "We've got big problems. Big, big problems," Hamilton says over the radio.

We'll probably have a standing start here, which means that Hamilton will likely take matters into his own hands from fourth on the grid.

Bottas is out of the car, but appears to have a little bit of a small limp while walking back.

The front-left suspension unit just let go, and he went into the barrier at some speed. Nasty crash there.

We have a red flag. Bottas is still in the car, moving, but waiting for the medical team.

Hamilton comes in to stop, and he takes the soft tyre. Russell, Hirakawa, and Perez all take some fresh tyres, as the safety car comes out. Piastri does likewise, but McLaren's wheelguns are really not on form today.

Antonelli has thus moved up to third, but imagine how that could've shaken out if Mercedes just waited one more lap.

Eventually, Antonelli comes in to stop. Slightly slow on the left rear, but it shouldn't cost him too much - he'll still emerge way in front of Norris.

Bottas has crashed at Turn 1! Oh, if only Antonelli stopped a lap later...

Antonelli continues to lead, Verstappen continues to sit in the theoretical net lead as he waits for the Mercedes to stop, and Leclerc is struggling to juggle the medium tyre.

Hamilton, meanwhile, is still 2.5s behind his team-mate.

Colapinto might have a chance to double his potential tally here, as he's closing down Hadjar for ninth. Hadjar stopped under the early VSC and is now feeling the pinch with his tyres.

Hadjar then pits, so that battle's over.

Antonelli continues out in front, having now put a lap on Albon and Bortoleto is next up.

Colapinto is now waiting for Bearman to stop - and the Haas driver duly does so, which lifts the Argentinian up to 10th. Big snap for the Briton as he got into the pitlane.

Norris will stop, as Bortoleto comes in at the end of lap 38 to elevate Lindblad and Hadjar into ninth and 10th. Just Bearman left to come in after this.

Verstappen moves up to second, and 10s behind Antonelli, as Norris has a dodgy stop and goes long in his box. He's just three seconds ahead of Russell on his return to the circuit on mediums.

Antonelli is told that his lap times are good - he's pulling away from Norris and trying to maintain a circa-12-second gap over Verstappen at the front.

Leclerc and Hamilton are still behind Verstappen, to the tune of 1.6 and 2.3 seconds respectively.

Russell is a further 23.3s behind.

Antonelli's pace on 36-lap-old softs is only a couple of tenths per lap slower than Verstappen, Leclerc, and co on fresh boots.

Piastri's not having an easy day and manages to Tony Hawk his way over the Turn 12 kerbs for the second time today.

Sainz comes out ahead of Hirakawa after pitting.

Leclerc is slowly closing Verstappen down a bit, but how much of that is Verstappen running to a target time to frustrate Ferrari?

Lindblad stops, and comes out in 10th and clear of Hadjar.

Russell emerges behind Colapinto, while Piastri has now cleared Bearman and is right on the Mercedes driver's tail. But Colapinto then duly pits from seventh place.

Antonelli's finding some good pace out there, however, and he's 7.7s clear of Norris, who is 5.1s clear of Verstappen.

Verstappen is 1.7s clear of Leclerc, but obviously waiting for the cars ahead to move aside before he can reclaim the lead.

Hamilton's also setting some quick laps as he hopes to close in on Leclerc. It could get pretty spicy soon.

Russell pits from second, which releases Norris. And he'll take a 10-second wait, which feels like an eternity.

Perez has a very slow stop and drops out in 19th place.

"Doing what you can, target plus five" Antonelli is told of his strategy, as he continues to pull ahead.

Hulkenberg pits from ninth, and drops out in 14th - 4.8s behind Gasly.

Antonelli is now gapping Russell with relatively free air, although he does have a Cadillac in front of him.

Piastri's stop has put him on the Hulkenberg-Bearman battle, and a battle with Bearman into Turn 4 doesn't yield a position.

Perhaps that's what McLaren is worried about: traffic.

Antonelli is now in front.

"We need one of your magic Mexico stints here, Max, just do enough to stay ahead", Lambiase tells Verstappen. He just needs to suffocate Leclerc a bit by deliberately feeding him dirty air.

"Is there really nothing we can do at the minute?" Norris asks, and he's told the best bet is to wait for a safety car. Not sure what for, presumably for a podium.

So, Leclerc served his five seconds, and has trickled out behind Verstappen - Red Bull didn't give him a chance to use his out-laps.

Hamilton's going to stop now, rather than use the free air. Perhaps the tyre performance just wasn't there.

Verstappen does have to go a long way on those softs, however, which is the crumb of comfort for Leclerc.

Piastri pitted at the end of lap 26, and he's taken a medium tyre for a presumed one-stopper.

Leclerc's been given the command to pit. Verstappen is doing exactly the same thing. Smart move by Red Bull, and Verstappen gets ahead.

Leclerc is continuing to maintain that five-second gap over Verstappen, but the Dutchman isn't letting him take any more. Hamilton is a further 2.4s back, with Antonelli still fourth and 2.5s behind the Ferrari.

Hadjar dispatches Sainz and moves up to 14th. Perez is next up, as the Cadillac driver is having a pretty good home race today.

Bearman's really scythed his way onto Hulkenberg's tail, and he's just half a second behind the Audi. Hulkenberg is on the mediums, but Bearman on the softs is faster.

Verstappen is maintaining a 4.9s gap behind Leclerc there now, hardly making it easy for the current leader.

"The stewards are basically handing Charles this win - we agreed in the drivers' meeting," Hamilton says, presumably having expected his team-mate to get the 10-second penalty.

"I need an honest assessment - free air, how much faster?" Will Joseph asks Lando Norris. The driver says it's hard to put a number on it, but he agrees he'd be quicker.

He's still behind Russell, who in turn is encumbered by a 10-second penalty.

Leclerc has found the five-second gap over Verstappen, but he'll need a bit more to truly cover him off. It's not just the gap itself, but you're also covering off an in-lap in clean air, the potential for a pitstop to go wrong, and the switch between penalty and tyre change.

Hamilton is 2.2s behind Verstappen in the meantime.

So far, none of the top 10 have pitted yet, and Norris is still pushing Russell hard - but the top-end speed in the McLaren is hampering him.

Leclerc is slowly extending that gap over Verstappen, and he's now 4.8s ahead.

Bearman does a dive past Bortoleto to get up to 11th, finding his way through at Turn 1. Hulkenberg is next up, but 2.2s clear.

Albon pits, and emerges on the soft tyre in 20th place.

Norris has backed off Russell a little bit this time. He's still on the cusp of a second, but hoping to get some cooler air through his car.

Gasly has emerged from the pits about 2.5s clear of Lawson, so it's fair to assume that Lawson will undercut everyone from lap 13 down.

Leclerc is now 4.2s clear of Verstappen now. He probably needs about six or seven seconds here, because there's always a time-loss between the penalty and the actual pit service when he gets there.

Gasly stops from 13th.

Lawson did an early stop off the medium tyre a few laps ago, presumably aiming to undercut Hirakawa, the Williams pair, and possibly Perez too.

Bearman is still on Bortoleto's tail, but Hulkenberg has fortified his position in 10th by getting a second clear of his team-mate.

Hamilton, on being told about Leclerc's penalty: "The problem is he's got clean air, and doesn't have to manage like the rest of us. He should just give the place back."

Problem is, there's a Red Bull between them...

Norris is still on Russell's tail at this point, and is told to keep applying the pressure.

Leclerc is now 3.5s clear of Verstappen, so he's got to find a bit more time before he stops to ensure he comes out of the pits ahead of the Red Bull.

Russell's got Norris right on his tail now - after an iffy start, the McLarens are now finding some good pace out there.

"Leclerc's been given a five-second penalty," Gianpiero Lambiase tells Max Verstappen. "Well, he is already five seconds ahead of Hamilton."

"Ha, I thought all the new penalty were 10?" Verstappen responds.

Charles Leclerc gets a five-second penalty for leaving the circuit and gaining an advantage, after that first-lap incident with Hamilton at Turn 4.

Russell gets a 10-second penalty for causing the collision with Hadjar.

Piastri dives past Lindblad to get up to seventh, recovering well after an inglorious Q2 exit yesterday.

Hulkenberg's got a bit of a train behind him: Bortoleto, Bearman, and Gasly all in an overtake-mode conga behind him.
