Formula 1 Las Vegas GP

F1 Las Vegas GP Live Commentary and Updates - FP3 & Qualifying

Saturday's action from the 21st round of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari SF-23

After a tough opening day of action following FP1 being called off after eight minutes due to a dislodged water value cover that sustained major damage to Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari and Esteban Ocon’s Alpine, and then FP2 being run without fans at 2:30am local time, F1 will be targeting a smoother final practice and qualifying.

The Las Vegas GP is the penultimate race of the 2023 season and provides an all-new challenge to the teams and the drivers, on a street track built around the famous city Strip.

Final practice begins at 4:30am GMT, followed by qualifying at 8am GMT.

Someone in no rush to get out is Sergio Perez, who is stood to the side of his Red Bull. Possible problem or part of the run plan?
They're quickly followed by both Alfa Romeo, Mercedes and Ferrari drivers.
Oscar Piastri becomes the first driver to head out, followed by McLaren team-mate Lando Norris.
And we currently have no cars on track... Clearly the F1 grid wanted some extra time in bed.
But as things stand we are due to get underway here in just a minute. Track temperature is 18.8C, with air temperatures slightly lower at 17.C. Chance of rain is 0%.
As a recap, this was after Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz struck a loose water valve cover. The remainder of FP1 was cancelled as the damaged segment of track was repaired, while FP2 was delayed as other covers were worked on.
For those who have braved an early morning start, hopefully we have more track running than this time yesterday when we got just eight minutes of action in FP1.
Good morning and welcome to live text coverage of FP3 for the Las Vegas GP.
