Hamilton gets rolling then, and seems to be on a time good enough for Q3. As you'd expect.
We wouldn't be praising the groundsmanship at a venue like, I dunno, Paul Ricard.
Big shout out to the people who mow the grass - the lines at Luffield are absolutely perfect. It's the little details.
We're back underway now. Hamilton immediately goes on track with fresh mediums.
That traffic ire was, of course, from earlier. We're still very much mid-red flag at the moment.
Sainz has more traffic ire: "Traffic in the last sector with Hamilton. Unacceptable. Unacceptable". Wonder how he feels about the M25 at 8am...
The graphic shows that Bottas' 1m25.015s is a new track record, so our "blimey" was more than justified.
The cars return to their battle stations with just under nine minutes left on the clock. Time to reflect for the final part of Q2.
As it stands, the drop zone is thus: Russell, Hamilton, Ricciardo, Gasly, Kvyat.
Bottas has done a few rallies in his time, so presumably he was more equipped to deal with that situation...
Red flag! There's more gravel than a rally special stage out there, so they're going to clear that up.
Hamilton reports that his tyres are okay, but he still didn't get a lap there.
Hamilton has a spin at Luffield! That's...unusual.
It's a 1m26.114s for Verstappen, then, but the Mercs are coming in hot...
Strong sector one from Verstappen, then, but then Bottas does a 27.3s in those opening corners to spoil his dreams.
A few cars out on mediums, then - Norris, Russell, Sainz, Ricciardo, Ocon and Vettel on softs, the rest on the yeller fellers.
Raikkonen has vented his displeasure over Ocon getting in his way - but stopped short of calling him Esteban Block-on...
Latifi trudges disconsolately through the pitlane after his spin.
Top 10 in that session were: 1. Bottas, 2. Hamilton, 3. Verstappen, 4. Stroll, 5. Hulkenberg, 6. Gasly, 7. Ocon, 8. Vettel, 9. Leclerc, 10. Albon
Russell's under investigation for potentially not slowing under the sector 2 yellows produced by Latifi. So Williams may giveth and taketh away...
"I spun, I spun...sorry guys," Latifi says. Probably got a little too keen on the loud pedal and skittered into the grass.
So that's it, your Q1 eliminees (if that's a word) are:
16. Magnussen, 17. Giovinazzi, 18. Raikkonen, 19. Grosjean, 20. Latifi
Russell seemed to be safe anyway, but then goes even quicker to cement a Q2 place.
Gasly vaults up to P4, before Hulkenberg takes the position from him.
Latifi's off! He's put some yellows out at sector two, which might nullify things...
A nice first sector from Russell, who's aiming for another tilt at Q2. A couple of tenths up on some of the midfield runners.
Raikkonen's on a better lap, looking to haul himself out of the drop zone.
The majority of cars from P5 downwards have returned for a second bite at the Q1 cherry, as has second-placed Hamilton.
"That's impeding, they should have got out of the way," says Sainz, coming across a smidgen of traffic at Luffield.
Both Sainz and Norris have done a 1m26.055s, so they're definitely evenly matched.
Bottas does a 1m25.801s to go even quicker, as Hamilton goes almost exactly 0.1s slower than his team-mate.
Norris goes P10, as Grosjean looks to have his P17 time deleted as he drops back to the bottom.
Plenty of jostling for space on-track among the midfield runners - Raikkonen goes P15 as Latifi goes 16th for the time being.
After those initial runs, it's:
1. Bottas, 2. Verstappen, 3. Hamilton, 4. Leclerc, 5. Stroll, 6. Albon, 7. Gasly, 8. Kvyat, 9. Hulkenberg, 10. Vettel.
Albon pokes his car onto a provisional P6, matching Verstappen in the first two sectors - but the Dutchman does a session-best sector 3 to go P2.
Norris has a brief off-road excursion, and he has to abort that lap.
