F1’s sprint race format returns at the penultimate round of the 2022 season, which has shaken up the Brazilian GP at Interlagos.
George Russell will start from top spot for Mercedes after winning the sprint race on Saturday, having seen a shock pole position for Kevin Magnussen in a wet qualifying on Friday.
Carlos Sainz finished the sprint race second but drops to seventh due to a Ferrari engine change, meaning it is a Mercedes front-row lockout with Lewis Hamilton in second ahead of Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Russell hits the gas as late as he can - and Hamilton and Verstappen make contact as they battle into the first corner on the restart! Shades of 2021!
Safety car
The safety car is in this lap.
Pit stop
Albon, who started on hard tyres, pits to take on fresh mediums. It is a free stop given the safety car is still in charge of the pack.

"There was something strange out of Turn 3 with the engine," Leclerc reports. "It's not a problem," comes the eventual reply, after telling Leclerc there's not much Ferrari can do.
The stewards will investigate that clash between Ricciardo and Magnussen after the race.
The upshot of that crash for Haas is Magnussen's team-mate Schumacher is up to 10th, given both the drivers ahead of him crashed out. A small silver lining.

"That's a damn shame Kev, did well up to there," Magnussen is told over team radio as he hops out of the car. That's cruel luck for the star of qualifying from Friday.
It's all action immediately - great getaway from the Mercedes pair, while Norris on the softs was able to clear the medium-running Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.
Crash
Ricciardo was looking for a way up the inside on Magnussen into Turn 8 but shut the door which led to the McLaren clipping the rear of the Haas. That spun around Magnussen and he was then collected by Ricciardo for good measure.
Safety car
Oh no! Ricciardo and Magnussen have clashed and they are both out of the race on the opening lap. The safety car is out!
Lights out
A good start for the Mercedes duo, as Verstappen immediately comes under fire from Perez and Norris!.
The grid is forming up now - I hope we're in for a classic today.
There's no bossa nova theme song - my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
That means our top four of Russell, Hamilton, Verstappen and Perez all begin on the soft boots.
Tyre news: mediums for Leclerc, Sainz, Magnussen, Schumacher, Stroll, Alonso, Latifi and Tsunoda. Hards for Albon, softs for everyone else.
Sun
We've got an air temp of around 24 degrees C as we approach the race. 10-percent risk of rain, but it's perfectly clement at the moment.
The anthem had an...interesting approach to audio mixing. Livelier than last year, but a bit off kilter. I'm interested to see if we get a bossa nova F1 theme...
15 minutes until the cars get moving.
As for Esteban Ocon, who suffered a fire at the end of a miserable sprint race, he takes an old power unit and thus starts 16th - ahead of team-mate Fernando Alonso.
Pitlane shut, and all the cars are in their grid spots - except Yuki Tsunoda, who will be starting from the pitlane having taken new parts outside of parc ferme.
Twitter
The cars and their drivers are now making their way to the dummy grid, as the usual cast of celebrities and hangers-on indulge in the festivities.
Breaking news
Carlos Sainz has taken a grid penalty for the full race, and thus starts from seventh - behind Lando Norris.
Poleman Kevin Magnussen held the lead for the first lap, but was overtaken by Max Verstappen - who then began to struggle on the medium tyres, and fell prey to the eventual top three.
We've had a race already as it's been one of those pesky sprint weekends, but it was a fairly action-packed 24 laps yesterday. George Russell won that, beating Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton.
Hello everyone, and welcome to our Autosport Live coverage of the Brazilian (or Sao Paulo, if you prefer actual race titles) Grand Prix. There's an hour to go until we get rolling at the Interlagos circuit.
