Alonso kicks us off with a 1m37.354s, but Ocon then posts a 1m36.284s.
Of course, there's only an hour to these FP1 sessions - and the same will be true of FP2 later on today. It should get rid of that horrid lull where we have to fill for time...so that's good!
Mr Titanium, the returning Fernando Alonso, continues across the line - and could provide us with our first lap today.
The two Alpines are first to hit the circuit, to be accosted by Tsunoda, Sainz, Stroll, Giovinazzi, Leclerc and Schumacher.
The 2021 F1 season is go! FP1 is officially underway.
The wind is nowhere near as strong as it was in testing, where Darude made a comeback to regale the circuit with a sandstorm.

It's good to be back in the saddle, Bahrain being the season opener is a much more agreeable time - the 1am FP1 time we'd usually get for Australia is a problem for future us...
