F1 Abu Dhabi GP Live Commentary and Updates - Race

Minute-by-minute updates of the 2024 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes F1 W15

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will launch from the front row of the grid in Abu Dhabi as McLaren looks to seal a first constructors' title since 1998.

Lewis Hamilton, who secured McLaren's latest crown of any description with his maiden 2008 drivers' title, makes his final bow for Mercedes before his switch to Ferrari, while Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, Zhou Guanyu, Kevin Magnussen and Franco Colapinto all start in F1 for potentially the last time.

The race gets under way at 13:00 GMT.

The pitlane is closed and all 20 drivers have made it to the grid. Here's how they line up today: 1. Norris 2. Piastri 3. Sainz 4. Verstappen 5. Gasly 6. Russell 7. Hulkenberg 8. Alonso 9. Bottas 10. Perez 11. Tsunoda 12. Lawson 13. Stroll 14. Magnussen 15. Zhou 16. Hamilton 17. Doohan 18. Albon 19. Leclerc 20. Colapinto

It is an end of an era for Hamilton at Mercedes, of course, who makes his final start for the Silver Arrows ahead of his Ferrari move in 2025.

Magnussen, one of a few drivers making his expected final F1 start of his career, has already got himself in a spot of bother as he has been noted for a practice start infringement on his way to the grid.

Alex Kalinauckas

An absolutely massive day for Zak Brown, with speeches and applause abounding in the McLaren garages as the time to head to the grid approaches.

It is McLaren vs Ferrari for the world constructors' title, the fight for sixth in the constructors' is up for grabs, and plenty of goodbyes up and down the grid. Oh, and the little matter of the race itself. Norris starts on pole alongside McLaren team-mate Piastri, with Ferrari's Sainz leading the fight for the Italian squad from third.
