Force India suggests damage from the early incidents compromised Hulkenberg's race. He says the car picked up understeer at high speed, which blunted his performance.

"My visor fogged up. I literally couldn't see," reports Ricciardo, who says the car was "fine" even though he struggled to live with Verstappen towards the end of that race.

"At least the engine should not be too stressed for Abu Dhabi," says Alonso, after getting praised for an "awesome recovery" following his spin at the restart. Tenth was a decent result in the circumstances, but Alonso clearly feels he should have finished at least seventh given he was up with Hulkenberg before that incident.
