That's a huge turnaround - Williams had Force India on the ropes yesterday but Williams is only 11th and 13th now, its rival is in Q3.
Perez brings his Force India into the top 10 too, which pushes Gutierrez out.
Hulkenberg leaps to eighth, Gutierrez to 10th, putting Massa out.
"Come on now! Put everything together mariachi." Words of encouragement for Gutierrez from his Haas team.
Alonso edges up to seventh, while Massa inches into the top 10 in 10th.
The top six (Mercedes/Red Bull/Ferrari) and Palmer are back in the pits, but everyone else is going for a time with one minute left.
Palmer tried for a second run when the track was quiet and got up to 12th ahead of the Toro Rossos for now.
Hulkenberg reports a rogue downshift in Turn 8 on that run. He still made it into the top 10 though. "We'll have a look Nico," Force India reassures him.
Massa is currently 0.3s slower than team-mate Bottas, who's four places ahead in seventh.
In jeopardy: 11 Massa; 12 Sainz; 13 Kvyat; 14 Palmer. No time yet: Grosjean, Gutierrez
Order so far: 1 Hamilton; 2 Rosberg; 3 Verstappen; 4 Vettel; 5 Ricciardo; 6 Raikkonen; 7 Bottas; 8 Alonso; 9 Hulkenberg; 10 Perez
Perez goes ninth with his first attempt, then is beaten moments later by Hulkenberg - who is just 0.004s faster.
Grosjean has aborted his run without setting a time yet, while Haas team-mate Gutierrez has stayed in the pits so far.
"Lap was OK. Messed up the last corner I think you saw. Struggling with fronts in Turn 4 and the last corner," reports Vettel after lapping fourth quickest.
Raikkonen regroups for another go and takes sixth, 0.3s and two places behind Vettel.
Raikkonen looks like he's backed right off after starting a first flying lap.
Vettel ran wide through Juncao and got pretty sideways on that lap, so surely could've been third with a cleaner run onto the straight.
"I think I have a puncture or something, the front tyres aren't working!" Massa complains. Williams tells him they are just too cold.
The Red Bulls go third and fourth, Verstappen half a second off Rosberg and 0.2s ahead of Ricciardo.
"Impeding! Nasr, and Ocon, a Manor!" Palmer reported in Q1, before that investigation was announced.
The stewards are investigating an impeding incident involving Palmer (who is in Q2) and Ocon in Q1.
"How can Esteban overtake me in the second last corner?!" Wehrlein asks. The traffic situation was "a mess" according to his Manor team.
"Pascal blocked me massively. This is not cool!" Ocon not happy with Manor team-mate Wehrlein's driving in Q1. No love lost following Force India's driver decision for 2017 it seems.
