Back-to-back improvements for Sainz, who is now fourth on a 1m21.255s. Busiest part of the first hour, this.
Vettel improves but it's only a couple of personal bests over the rest of the lap so he stays second, 0.417s back from Alonso with a 1m20.273s.
Alonso still lapping in the mid-1m21s on those hypersofts.
Ricciardo's uses those medium tyres to set a 1m22.356s and he's on a faster lap again.
Vettel posts the fastest first sector of anyone so far.
Sainz now on a 1m21.857s, a tenth slower than Alonso's latest lap. Vettel doesn't improve next time by.
Ricciardo's back out and starts a lap on medium tyres.
Alonso's next flying lap is a couple of seconds slower. Vettel's effort on softs, though, puts him second on a 1m20.767s.
Sainz, using the medium tyres, goes sixth ahead of Ricciardo. The Renault driver sets a 1m22.654s.
Alonso still running, a slower lap that time from the McLaren. Backed off. Meanwhile Vettel gets on the board in fifth with a 1m21.974s.
And that lap is half a second quicker than anything we saw yesterday. No messing around from McLaren and Alonso this morning.

Alonso even quicker after a lap to calm down. He sets a 1m19.856s. That puts him 1.1s clear of Hamilton.
Definitely hypersofts on the McLaren. Boullier explained yesterday that it's not a performance thing, rather a need to get the tyres working quickly when they are planning testing things around short runs. Sometime a 10-lap or 12-lap stint isn't what they want to do, but that's what they'd need to have the tyres working properly.

Ocon doesn't have the track to himself for long. Alonso's back out in the McLaren.

Leclerc pits as Ocon uses soft tyres to set a 1m23.893s and slot into fourth place.
Grosjean returns in the Haas. That leaves Leclerc and Ocon on track. We're more than half an hour into the day already. Just eight hours and 28 minutes to go.

Ricciardo posts two personal bests though the first two sectors but also doesn't improve. Grosjean does, he's onto a 1m21.869s.
Hamilton sets the fastest time so far through the first two sectors but he doesn't complete the lap at full speed and crosses the line 1.8s slower.
