Barcelona F1 test day two

Leclerc stayed out for a second lap, but not a third, and we've also seen Sainz and Bottas now too. No times yet.

On day two of the test, if you got decent running yesterday you'll have reasonable confidence in the fact the systems are all running correctly – things like the cooling and hydraulics. If not you'll be focusing on the problems you found.

So many little things can affect how you understand the car. Where you have temperature sensors in the hydraulic system they might not be reading the highest temperature, so day one will be spent with temperature stickers all over the place to ensure you have peak values. But as long as you know the offset from where you are measuring to peak, you are OK. It's a question of knowing you know all that.

If that's all under control, on day two you can start to understand more about car set-up.
Someone must have had a word with Ferrari - the screens they were hiding the car behind yesterday are gone.
Leclerc takes the Sauber out for the first time this week. Five cars on track.
Two more cars head out - Gasly in the Toro Rosso and Vettel in the Ferrari.
It's Magnussen's Haas we can hear heading out on track. He's followed by Sirotkin's Williams. The Russian was one of the drivers subjected only to the afternoon running yesterday, which wasn't worth much.
Green flag, the pits are open and someone is heading out already...
There are at least a few engines being warmed up in the pits, which are hopefully being used for something other than providing warmth in the garages. Fingers crossed when the track opens, we'll see some cars head out. Yesterday afternoon when the temperature dropped not many people went out, but the excuse for that seemed to be the drizzle in the air. No sign of rain at the moment, so dry, but cold running is available for those who want it.
It's obviously very hard to make major judgements on form from a single test day, but if you didn't want to know some early signs then you probably wouldn't be reading this would you? So we do our best to give you all the hints we can piece together.

GARY ANDERSON delved into the day one times, paddock insight and his own trackside observations of the new cars' behaviour to outline who he felt were the winners and losers of the first day of F1 2018:
The winners and losers from the opening F1 test day
First chances of the year to see Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Kevin Magnussen, Stoffel Vandoorne and Charles Leclerc on track today. Valtteri Bottas, Sergey Sirotkin and Carlos Sainz Jr all had half-days yesterday.
There was a slight dusting of snow on the Autosport cars this morning, but the track itself is just dry and cold.

Air temperature is -0.5, the track temperature a not-much-better 2.2.
Good morning and welcome back to our live coverage for day two of 2018 Formula 1 testing at Barcelona - where it is cold.
