Button is informed that he's now the only McLaren on track: "OK Jenson, Fernando is retired. There's no reason that should affect us."
LAWRENCE BARRETTO: "Stewards have investigated the incident between Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hulkenberg and decided no further action is warranted."
Alonso's retirement has favoured his McLaren team-mate. Button moves up to 17th.
LAWRENCE BARRETTO: "That's Fernando Alonso's third successive retirement and fourth in six races this season."
Raikkonen takes a second out of third-placed Bottas that time. He's 13.5s adrift.
Rosberg does his best lap of the day so far. He's 1.1s behind Hamilton.
Button has also just made a pitstop for super-softs. He's back out half a minute behind Nasr's 16th-placed Sauber.
Mercedes are happy with Rosberg's progress for them this race: "You've done a really good job with breaks there. Continue like this and it'll give us margin to attack."
Hulkenberg is back up to speed and getting away from Kvyat and Perez again.
Hulkenberg got going again in ninth, still 4s clear of the battling Kvyat and Perez.
Raikkonen's surge towards Bottas isn't quite so dramatic now - he's 0.6s quicker and still 14.4s behind.
"Where's Hulkenberg? I did not touch him. Where is he?" A confused Vettel checks in with the team after a close shave with Hulkenberg at the chicane.
Rosberg is sneaking back towards Hamilton in the lead battle. They're 1.0s apart now.
Vettel continues untroubled and is up to seventh. Hulkenberg on the other hand, not so lucky. The Force India driver spins round and is now behind Massa too.
"We can have some fun on the other tyre, even if we're at the back." Button is clearly up for getting the most out of his time at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Stevens overtook Merhi late in the first stint, but the Spaniard just back ahead in the pitstops and is fending his team-mate off.
Raikkonen sets the fastest lap - a 1m16.987s. That's 1.8s faster than Bottas and he's 17.1s behind with 28 laps left.
Kvyat is still holding off Perez for 10th, while last year's winner Ricciardo isn't even on course to score right now. He's 12th.
Raikkonen has rejoined just ahead of the two Lotuses, he has Grosjean and Maldonado on his tail but will swiftly pull away.
Mercedes give Hamilton an update on his rival team-mate's race condition: "Nico is safe on fuel but a little more critical on breaks."
Williams fills Bottas in on the race situation, telling him that Rosberg is critical with his brakes and he's coming up to lap Nasr.
The gap between Hamilton and Rosberg is down to 1.4s again now.
Raikkonen had a gap behind so was able to rejoin ahead of Grosjean and still in fourth. He now has fresh tyres to try to catch Bottas again.
This is unexpected for Raikkonen, he's putting super-softs back on.
Verstappen pits and will have to serve his 10 second time penalty.
Bottas is 18.5s off the lead in third, and still keeping Raikkonen just over a second behind him.

8 Vettel
9 Massa
10 Kvyat
"The most important thing is to keep things clean, Dani." Red Bull keeps Kyvat's priorities in order.
Rosberg might feel his brakes are OK now - he closes back to within 1.8s of Hamilton.
The angst continues for Alonso, he's in a lonely 16th between Sauber pair Ericsson and Nasr.
Massa will be aiming to get this set of super-softs to the end of the race. That will be a big ask. He returns to the track ninth, just ahead of Kvyat but behind Vettel.
As Rosberg nurses his car for now, Hamilton brings his lead up to 2.3s with 33 laps left.
Rosberg is told that his brake wear is "now critical" and it's essential he manage it for the next 10 laps before attacking Hamilton.
