Less than half of the session remains but we're likely heading into data-gathering mode. With that in mind, here's a rundown of the order, starting with the bottom half:
11 Maldonado
12 Hulkenberg
13 Vergne
14 Gutierrez
15 Button
16 Sutil
17 Kobayashi
18 Grosjean
19 Stevens
20 Alonso
11 Maldonado
12 Hulkenberg
13 Vergne
14 Gutierrez
15 Button
16 Sutil
17 Kobayashi
18 Grosjean
19 Stevens
20 Alonso
Alonso's broken Ferrari has made it back to the paddock and is being pushed in by some mechanics.
Massa locks up and pays a quick visit to the run-off.
Stopwatch
Hamilton improves, ever so slightly. It's a 1m42.113s.
The Mercedes boys are at it again. Rosberg's looking quicker on this lap...but just falls short! It's a 1m42.196s. Less than a tenth behind.
Someone we've not seen much of today is Jenson Button, who is 13th on a 1m44.722s at present.
He's on track now, but on the soft tyre.
He's on track now, but on the soft tyre.
Stopwatch
Calm down gents. Lewis Hamilton doesn't like Rosberg being quickest at all and outpaces his team-mate by almost 0.2s. The Briton does a 1m42.159s.
Stopwatch
A new fastest lap of the session for Nico Rosberg, whose first super-soft flier yields a 1m42.303s.
Stopwatch
Kevin Magnussen surprises everyone by going top on a 1m42.895s, but not for long...
Red Bull tells Vettel there's no obvious tyre problem on the data.
Quote
"For some reason I have absolutely no rear grip, I might have a slow puncture on the rear left," says Vettel.
While Hamilton does that, Rosberg (now out on the supersoft) is not hanging around. He goes purple in sector one, and when Hamilton comes through there's 0.051s in it – in favour of the German.
Ricciardo moves up to third in his Red Bull, lapping in 1m43.183s. Hamilton's building up to his flier after that radio chat.
Hamilton asks Mercedes if the super-soft is "solely a one-lap tyre?" and is told there's not much data yet, but Vergne has got three laps out of it.
Stopwatch
Vettel goes quickest, a 1m42.959s. That's just, just quicker than Rosberg.
Hamilton out on the super-soft tyre. Time to see what the Mercedes can do.
Kvyat leaps to second on a 1m43.546s, while Perez is now fourth as Maldonado slips to fifth. Hulkenberg is sixth.
Vettel is told to work on his front tyres, otherwise "they might not be ready for the first timed lap."
The super-soft is giving a few drivers a moment in the (fading) sun. Maldonado's third, Gutierrez fifth. That'll change as other drivers get their laps in on the softer rubber.
Rosberg's back in the pits. Maldonado's suddenly appeared at the sharp end on a 1m44.005s.
Good lap from Bottas, who flies to third fastest - a second off Rosberg's best. Magnussen goes fourth on a 1m44.344s.
Stevens and Kobayashi both leave the Caterham garage, while Rosberg makes it half a dozen drivers on track.
It's a good first sector and a purple middle sector for Hamilton...but he pits.
As he does so, Magnussen, Massa and Bottas head the other way.
As he does so, Magnussen, Massa and Bottas head the other way.
With Alonso's car off the track, Hamilton has the track to himself. Gutierrez pits but the Brit has carried on, albeit at a reduced pace. Is he about to go for another attempt at a flying lap?
Alonso is trudging along behind the barriers to have a look at his car and a chat with the marshals.
Most cars back in the pits now. Just Hamilton and Gutierrez left out there and actually moving.
"What happened, Fernando?" asks Ferrari. "Car stopped," he replies.
A group of marshals are pushing the Ferrari away.
That yellow could scupper Hamilton's attempt at improving. He'd notched up a pair of personal bests in the opening two sectors.
Yellow flag
Alonso has pulled off the racing line but it's a narrow section and it could be hard to retrieve that car.
Hamilton had a brief trip off at Turn 1 just now.
Alonso has stopped on track with smoke from the back of his Ferrari.
Bottas emerges, so it's just Button we've not seen leave the pits yet.
Ricciardo pops up into fourth, but is immediately bumped down by Kvyat's 1m44.584s. The Toro Rossos look strong early on here.
Crash
That looked very odd for Sutil, and he tells Sauber he has a brake disc failure. He's cruising back to the pits.
Sutil has a massive lock-up at the end of the back straight and shoots down the run-off.
Who haven't we had a laptime from so far? Fernando Alonso, who has just left the Ferrari garage, Jenson Button and Valtteri Bottas.
Returning to their regular seats now for FP2 after ceding them in the opening session are Grosjean at Lotus and Sutil.

Grosjean has a misunderstanding with Raikkonen as he closes on the Ferrari into Turn 8 and ends up driving off the road.
