49 min: Meanwhile, it's the calm before the inevitable super-soft storm in the pit garages as everyone makes final adjustments.
48 min: Vergne pits at the end of his next lap, leaving the Marussia duo out there with no-one else to play with.
47 min: Chilton has a huge slide coming out of Turn 8 but misses the wall. Replays show the Marussia driver got a bit greedy on the throttle.
46 min: Ricciardo pits, but Vergne completes the lap and finds a marginal improvement with 1m48.055s. He remains 11th.
45 min: Vergne and Ricciardo in the Toro Rosso machines make up the other 50 per cent, as they work through the final stages of a medium tyre run.
44 min: The two Marussias make up 50 per cent of the on-track contingent at present. Bianchi, 21st, leads Chilton at present.
43 min: Rosberg is trollied onto the garage rather than wheeled in. Webber does return at the end of the lap as we wait for the super-soft runs.
43 min: Gutierrez is informed he's losing time to Hulkenberg in Turns "9, 10, 11 and 12."
41 min: The Caterham duo did not last long on track. They are both back in the garage, as is Hulkenberg after his brief foray on the circuit.
41 min: Webber has been into the pits for a brief stop and a run through the pits. He is back on track but expected in for changes - probably at the end of this lap.
41 min: After his change to solve his understeer, Hulkenberg admits there’s been a price to pay: “For rear stability, Turn 13 is getting quite poor now.”
40 min: Hulkenberg's Sauber team-mate Gutierrez is faring slightly worse. Two personal best sectors only yield a 1m49.123s - and 17th.
39 min: Hulkenberg is quickly back up to speed. He improves to ninth, with a time of 1m47.716s.
39 min: Vergne and Ricciardo head out for another run with just under 21 minutes to go - still using the medium tyre.
38 min: Massa brings this stint to an end. He has eight laps to his name.
37 min: Hamilton drops to third with Grosjean now fourth, Rosberg fifth, Alonso sixth and Button in seventh spot. He is 1.245s off the leading pace.
36 min: Massa is still plodding round in his Ferrari, but is yet to improve on his 11th position.
35 min: With 25 minutes to go Webber heads the list with 1m46.220s, with Vettel now up to second with 1m46.299s. The gap is 0.079s.
35 min: Caterham's van der Garde and Pic are back on track. They currently lead the battle of the backmarkers.
33 min: Hamilton is looking quicker this time round. He improves by one-tenths with a time of 1m46.445s. He remains in second spot, behind Webber.
32 min: A representative lap from Alonso, and he's up to fifth. 1m47.087s for the Ferrari man.
32 min: Vettel improves by four-tenths of a second and he moves back into fourth spot with a time of 1m47.031s.
32 min: Button fails to improve his time despite going green in the first and second sectors.
31 min: A lot of green sectors being set, Perez among the improvers as he goes sixth with a time of 1m47.633s.
30 min: Here comes the Red Bull duo. Webber tops the pile with a lap of 1m46.220s as the pace improves.
30 min: If Massa's first effort was unspectacular, Alonso's was even more under-the-radar. 1m57.644s for the Spaniard, comfortably slowest.
29 min: Massa's first lap was a solid if unspectacular 1m48.261s. Team-mate Alonso is now on a flier.
29 min: Rosberg complains: “Too much understeer, everywhere. Low-speed and high-speed.”
29 min: Hamilton retakes the top spot from Grosjean with a time of 1m46.514s.
28 min: Vettel has joined the party and is up to fourth with a time of 1m47.439s.
28 min: Button nudges ahead of his McLaren team-mate on a 1m47.775s.
27 min: Rosberg has put into another lap straight off his initial flier with 1m47.282s. He is back up to second spot, behind Grosjean.
27 min: Despite his quickest time, Grosjean says his balance is “A little bit too much oversteer, mechanical.”
27 min: Grosjean is now going even quicker, setting the absolute best in the first sector.
27 min: Perez, on the board in eighth, improves to fourth with a 1m47.979s.
26 min: But Grosjean's first effort is an absolute belter. He goes quickest on a 1m46.883s.
25 min: Hamilton then takes over from his team-mate with 1m47.363s.
25 min: Rosberg then briefly heads the list with 1m47.516s.
