Lap 24: Hamilton was told the "did everything they could yesterday", suggesting the potential for a problem was known by the team.
Lap 24: Replays show Hamilton experiencing serious gearbox trouble as he navigated the opening complex of corners.
Lap 24: Vettel takes over the lead ahead of Button as Hamilton trudges away from his lightly-smoking McLaren.
Lap 23: That certainly shakes up the order a little. It puts Maldonado back into a podium spot and Raikkonen into the points.
Lap 23: Hamilton shakes his head as he begins to take in a costly retirement from the lead in Singapore.
Lap 23: Disaster for the leader as he pulls off with no drive.
Lap 23: Hamilton is slowing in the McLaren!
Lap 23: Massa is down in 21st after two stops so far this evening. He is 0.5s behind Pic and looking to get through quickly.
Lap 22: Senna reports over the team radio that his tyres are 'yellow', with Williams clearly using a colour coding system to describe durability.
Lap 22: Traffic for the lead battle now as they begin to put laps on the backmarkers.
Lap 22: Senna is 12th in the Williams, ahead of Vergne 13th. Hulkenberg has clear air in 14th and posts the fastest lap of the race - 1m54.494s.
Lap 21: So with the race settling down again, Rosberg is eighth but 5.8s down on Webber, with Grosjean ninth, Schumacher 10th and Raikkonen 11th.
Lap 21: Massa and Karthikeyan come into the pits. They rejoin in 21st and 23rd positions, with de la Rosa able to nip through ahead of his team-mate.
Lap 21: Alonso's pace is better on these soft tyres as he slowly closes on Maldonado in fourth.
Lap 20: Hamilton has edged his lead out to two seconds, with Button a further three behind Vettel's Red Bull.
Lap 20: De la Rosa and Petrov head into the pits. They rejoin down in 23rd and 24th positions.
Lap 19: Hulkenberg and Perez pit together. They rejoin in the same order, but down in 14th and 16th places, with Ricciardo squeezing between them.
Lap 19: That promotes di Resta to sixth and Webber back up to seventh.
Lap 19: Di Resta is the man on the move now as he is allowed past by team-mate Hulkenberg as the long runners struggle with destroyed tyres.
Lap 19: Perez is struggling badly. He missed the Turn 10 chicane on the previous lap and lost position firstly to di Resta, before Webber then sauntered up to the back of the Sauber and past it.
Lap 18: Webber has passed Perez and the Australian is up to eighth spot.
Lap 18: Massa inherits that 18th position in the Ferrari and still struggling to make his way through the field. Kobayashi is 19th.
Lap 18: Vergne is 15th with Toro Rosso team-mate Ricciardo 16th, Kovalainen 17th and Pic pits from 18th place.
Lap 17: Not a problem for Alonso as he takes over fifth place from Hulkenberg.
Lap 17: Raikkonen runs in 13th after that round of stops, so no track position gain there over Schumacher, while Senna is up to 14th.
Lap 17: Alonso has closed quickly on Hulkenverg and looks for the DRS move on the Force India.
Lap 17: Di Resta is eighth and yet to stop. Webber is on his tail in ninth, with Rosberg 10th, Grosjean 11th and Schumacher 12th.
Lap 17: Alonso is up to sixth on his second set of rubber, while Perez continues to run strongly on his initial choice of the harder tyre.
Lap 17: Maldonado is a strong fourth for Williams, with Hulkenberg nearing his first stop in fifth place.
Lap 16: So it's Hamilton leading by just 1.5 seconds from Vettel, with Button a further 4.2 seconds behind in third.
Lap 16: Alonso moves up a place to seventh, passing Perez, who is now beginning to struggle on his original set of tyres.
Lap 15: Maldonado survives a wild moment opening his DRS as he blasts past Hulkenberg to take over fourth place.
Lap 15: Kobayashi pits the Sauber and drops down from 18th position.
Lap 15: Hamilton takes the lead back again, with Vettel 1.5 seconds behind him. Button resumes in third place.
Lap 15: Hulkenberg is fifth with Perez sixth. Neither driver has stopped yet.
Lap 15: Grosjean is also in this time for service at Lotus.
Lap 15: Button finally makes his first visit to the McLaren pit.
Lap 14: Maldonado has emerged in sixth on the road, chasing Hulkenberg in the Force India who started on soft compound and is running long.
Lap 14: Glock is also into the pits for a change. He was as high as 17th, having left this stop late.
Lap 14: Raikkonen is also in for service on this lap.
