Lap 39: Down the field, di Resta and Perez are battling over 11th, with Kobayashi up to 13th and Maldonado rejoined in 14th place.
Lap 39: Both Vettel and Hamilton are lapping in the 1m28s bracket on hard tyres, with 2.3 seconds between the front two.
Lap 39: Rosberg is now right on team-mate Schumacher's tail as they battle for sixth. He has closed down a five second gap over the last few laps.
Lap 38: Alonso is still struggling for pace on the revised hard tyre, lapping around 1m31s at the moment.
Lap 38: Maldonado was running in a strong 10th place and Williams will be hoping to keep track position during this next pitstop phase.
Lap 38: Maldonado, Alguersuari and Heidfeld also come in on this lap.
Lap 37: Massa was being caught very quickly by the two Mercedes drivers, so he comes into the pits for the third time.
Lap 37: Replays show Alonso running wide in Turn 10 and Button was right there to pick up the place.
Lap 37: Button continues his march past the hard-tyre runners and is straight past Alonso and up to third on the road.
Lap 36: Button has a tyre advantage on Webber and makes it through on the Red Bull with a brave move into Turn 1.
Lap 36: Kamui Kobayashi has passed Jarno Trulli for 16th and Barrichello follows through on the next lap. It's beginning to slip away for Lotus after a great first half of the race.
Lap 36: The McLaren resumes with leader Vettel right in his sights.
Lap 36: Hamilton responds to Vettel's stop with his own pit visit for hard rubber.
Lap 35: Buemi is 11th and just ahead of team-mate Alguersuari, with Heidfeld up to 13th, di Resta rejoined in 14th, Perez 15th and Barrichello 16th.
Lap 35: Webber finally makes his move under brakes at Turn 10 but Alonso comes back at him and order is resumed.
Lap 35: Schumacher continues in seventh but Rosberg has closed the gap down to 2.6s. Petrov is 10 seconds behind them in ninth, with Maldonado now 10th.
Lap 34: Button is encouraged on by his team as he rapidly catches the scrap between Alonso and Webber.
Lap 34: Webber deploys DRS once again but there is nothing he can do on the Ferrari. There are also a lot of marbles off-line into the first corner.
Lap 34: Button clocks a 1m28s lap - much quicker than mid 1m30s from Alonso on his hards.
Lap 34: Petrov is now on di Resta's tail. The Scot knows the danger and pits for the second time, from ninth.
Lap 34: Webber looks to have better pace than Alonso on his hard tyres and is trying various lines to make a move on the Ferrari.
Lap 33: Button is told he needs to do a minimum of 13 laps on his soft rubber, while the lead four will have long runs on hards to complete.
Lap 33: Di Resta stays out and 10th placed Petrov closes down another two seconds. The gap between them is now 1.6s.
Lap 33: Webber tries DRS one more time on Alonso but can't make it through.
Lap 32: Di Resta is now quickly being caught by Petrov and a fight for ninth will occur soon, unless the Scot pits. His team-mate Sutil has just pitted.
Lap 32: Hamilton is now just 1.6s behind leader Vettel as they lap the Toro Rosso pair.
Lap 32: This could be where Button makes the difference if the pace between the two compounds is still over two seconds with the current conditions.
Lap 31: In contrast to his rivals, Button gets soft tyres for his next stint.
Lap 31: Rosberg is through, past di Resta and into eighth. He is almost five seconds behind team-mate Michael Schumacher.
Lap 30: Button is due in the pits this time around for McLaren.
Lap 30: Perez and Trulli pit together from 14th and 15th place in a straight race for position.
Lap 30: Schumacher rejoined in seventh with di Resta now eighth and Rosberg losing out as we mentioned. He is now ninth.
Lap 30: It's a very close release of Alonso on Webber and they exit the pits in that order.
Lap 30: Alonso and Webber dive in for their change to hard rubber.
Lap 29: Vettel has a minor lock-up again at Turn 10 as Hamilton - on fresher rubber - continues to close on the leader.
Lap 29: Jaime Alguersuari has passed Adrian Sutil on the pit straight for 15th place. Buemi is also in the mix, having just rejoined from his pitstop.
Lap 29: Hamilton continues to reel in leader Vettel and the gap is now just 2.7 seconds.
Lap 28: Button is slowly falling away from Webber as he gets towards the end the life of his current tyres.
Lap 28: Rosberg pits the following lap and Schumacher gains a big advantage there, to the tune of some four or five seconds.
