Lap 58: Vettel is now encountering heavy traffic as Button closes to just 6.5 seconds off the lead.
Lap 57: Should be just enough time on the clock to complete the distance, with the two-hour countdown beginning as the red lights went out.
Lap 57: Massa has passed Barrichello for 10th place. He is 14 seconds behind the Rosberg scrap but has little chance to catch them with only a few laps remaining.
Lap 57: Button is now clocked 7.9 seconds behind the leader with five laps remaining in the Singapore Grand Prix.
Lap 56: Sutil is now just 0.8s behind Rosberg and Perez is right with them. This is a three-car fight for seventh.
Lap 56: Kobayashi pits from 14th position. The Japanese driver has no chance to score points today and will rue his mistake in qualifying.
Lap 56: Button is on course to prevent Vettel clinching the title here and is being told to wind the McLaren up to full pace. "Let's have Vettel!"
Lap 55: Behind the top six, Rosberg is beginning to come under pressure from Sutil. The Force India driver has slowly hauled in that four second gap
Lap 55: Button sets the fastest lap, closing the gap slightly to 9.6 seconds to leader Vettel.
Lap 55: The Belgian in 18th is now left to defend from Vitaly Petrov, with HRT drivers Ricciardo and Liuzzi in 20th and 21st positions.
Lap 54: Hamilton breezes past the Force India down to Turn 14 and is up to fifth.
Lap 54: Kovalainen pulls a full three seconds clear of d'Ambrosio in the middle sector alone now that he has clear space to work with.
Lap 54: Hamilton is now right with di Resta, who is on a very old set of prime tyres.
Lap 53: Kovalainen is through and past the Virgin driver. He takes over 17th.
Lap 53: D'Ambrosio in 17th continues to fend off a strong attack from Kovalainen and Petrov. Surely his tyres cannot last.
Lap 53: That puts Hamilton up to sixth, with di Resta the next man on his list as he tries to restore the McLaren to fifth place.
Lap 52: Rosberg holds on through the opening complex of corners but Hamilton is quickly passed as they sweep through Turn 5.
Lap 52: Trulli retires the Lotus. He had a good start and first stint, but it fell away after he was assaulted by Alguersuari during the first round of stops.
Lap 52: Hamilton is now chasing Rosberg.
Lap 52: Little chance for Sutil to defend as Hamilton steams past with the aid of DRS and fresh rubber.
Lap 51: D'Ambrosio has not stopped in this phase and runs in 17th, with the Kovalainen versus Petrov battle right on his gearbox in a three-car scrap.
Lap 51: Hamilton is now on the case of Sutil's Force India once again.
Lap 51: Button sets the fastest lap and is clocked 9.5 seconds behind leader Vettel.
Lap 51: Hamilton has already made his move on Perez with a DRS slice into Turn 7.
Lap 51: Di Resta is fifth, ahead of Rosberg, Sutil and Perez, with Hamilton now behind that group but on fresh rubber.
Lap 51: Senna and Liuzzi also come in for a stop and will run to the flag.
Lap 50: Buemi pits from 11th place for his final stop in the Toro Rosso. Barrichello continues in 10th spot.
Lap 50: Alonso joins the pitstop rush and resumes in fourth.
Lap 50: Kovalainen is released still ahead of Petrov, but almost into the path of the leader.
Lap 50: Supersofts go on the Red Bull and he is away in a comfortable lead, despite a near-miss with Kovalainen's Lotus.
Lap 50: Renault reacts and Petrov is also in for his final stop.
Lap 49: Leader Vettel makes his final stop.
Lap 49: Kovalainen pits for the final time from 17th position.
Lap 49: Hamilton falls to ninth on the road and is on the harder rubber, having no supersofts left after the qualifying puncture.
Lap 49: Alguersuari wastes no time in passing the Lotus and he is up to 16th, with Kovalainen 17th and Petrov a couple of second back in 18th.
Lap 49: Hamilton is also in for an inevitable final set of Pirellis.
Lap 49: Alguersuari has passed Petrov for 17th place and the Spaniard now takes up the attack of Kovalainen.
Lap 49: Button pits for fresh rubber to the flag.
Lap 49: Webber forces his way past some stiff defence from Hamilton, who will surely be in for fresh rubber shortly.
Lap 48: Sutil is beginning to close in on Rosberg just slightly. The gap between seventh and eighth now stands at 3.8s, with Perez 2.1s behind the Force India.
