Lap 33: Maldonado's pace is dropping hand over fist. Perez and Petrov are now right on his tail in a three-car scrap for 11th.
Lap 33: Sensational racing from the leaders as Hamilton resumes up front from Alonso and Webber.
Lap 33: It's tight again at the first corner and Alonso comes out on top ... before Hamilton goes around the outside of the Ferrari!
Lap 32: Things are closing up in the midfield once again. Maldonado in 11th is losing pace. He has Perez and Petrov closing back up to him.
Lap 32: Alonso pits his Ferrari for his final set of softs.
Lap 32: Hamilton fends off an attack from Webber, but there is a worrying sign of light blue smoke from the rear of his McLaren.
Lap 31: A quick stop for McLaren and Hamilton is underway - and pips Webber to the first corner!
Lap 31: Chandhok is back out after a short stop and is able to continue.
Lap 31: Hamilton pits while Alonso continues.
Lap 31: McLaren and Ferrari will be pondering their options now, with the final stop possibly being the place to pounce.
Lap 31: Chandhok has spun his Lotus into the gravel. He managed to get out and has since made a stop in the pits.
Lap 31: Clean air for Webber as he feeds out and begins to get his tyres up to temperature.
Lap 30: The fight for ninth continues but it is running out of steam for now, as Kobayashi falls to 1.3s behind Schumacher.
Lap 30: Webber pits for his final set of soft tyres.
Lap 30: Alonso is just 1.6 seconds off the lead, with half the race still remaining.
Lap 29: Alonso is told to push now as Webber's tyres may be going away as the stint draws to a close.
Lap 29: Button is now right on the tail of Sutil and looking for away around the German.
Lap 29: Kobayashi is clearly quicker at this stage of the race than Schumacher. You wonder how long the Japanese driver's patience will hold before he makes a move. This is the battle for ninth.
Lap 28: Just a second between Webber and Hamilton on the road now, with little in it on race pace at the head of the field.
Lap 28: Button is now 1.4 seconds behind Sutil and closing rapidly on the Force India.
Lap 27: Kovalainen now makes his first stop, promoting Buemi into 16th place.
Lap 27: Hamilton sets the fastest first sector as he keeps the pressure on leader Webber ahead of the next stops.
Lap 27: Alguersuari is 14th ahead of the recovering di Resta and Kovalainen's Lotus. Buemi is 17th and closing in on Kovalainen quickly.
Lap 27: Rosberg is sixth in his Mercedes, ahead of the two-stopping Sutil and Button.
Lap 26: Maldonado has moved up to 11th with Perez now 12th. Petrov was the big loser in all that. He has slipped to 13th.
Lap 26: Massa is now fourth, ahead of Vettel in fifth, who is warned of a possible problem with the Red Bull's brakes.
Lap 26: With the first round of stops now complete, Webber leads from Hamilton and Alonso. Just 2.8 seconds cover the trio.
Lap 26: Schumacher is still ninth thanks to the pitstops, but he is now 11.7s behind Sutil and has Kobayashi all over his gearbox.
Lap 25: All four soft tyres are bolted on Button's car this time and he resumes behind Sutil on the road.
Lap 25: Button makes his late first stop for McLaren.
Lap 25: The Meteo France radar on the pitwall continues to suggest nothing more than a few drops of rain for the next 30 minutes.
Lap 25: Schumacher was able to get going again, but has lost a lot of time to team-mate Rosberg.
Lap 24: Replays show that Schumacher got a wheel out onto the wet artificial grass approaching Turn 10 and he suffered a similar spin to Vettel.
Lap 24: Petrov, Alguersuari and di Resta all come into the pits this time round.
Lap 24: Webber again sets the fastest lap as the leaders come up to lap d'Ambrosio in the Virgin car.
Lap 24: Schumacher has spun his Mercedes out of ninth position. He gets going again.
Lap 23: Sutil resumes behind this intense scrap between Petrov and the Mercedes pair.
Lap 23: Meantime, there is a great scrap behind the main protagonists as Rosberg and Schumacher come through past the ailing Petrov. He slips down even further to 10th place.
Lap 23: Sutil finally makes his first stop from fourth place on the road.
Lap 22: Williams has confirmed that Rubens Barrichello's problem was an oil leak.
