Hamilton and McLaren vanquish the Red Bulls on Vettel's home turf, as the German has a comparative shocker after spinning away his chances.

The race was shaped at the lights, as Hamilton got a fantastic start to lead into Turn 1 and from then on he was magnificent. Alonso will be very pleased to score another good haul of points, while the Red Bull debrief will be tasty - wouldn't we all love to be a fly on the wall for that?

Others deserve a note for strong drives this afternoon. Adrian Sutil finished an excellent sixth, while Sergio Perez recovered well from the back of the pack to finish 11th, but up front, the battle is getting closer and that bodes well for the rest of the season.

McLaren remains Red Bull's closest challenger in the constructors' points, but the margin is over 100 points, with Ferrari in third.

The Ferrari team will be hoping to preserve enough petrol for the mandatory sample with that move.
Four drivers retired from the German Grand Prix:

Liuzzi retired just before two-third distance in the HRT, Button suffered hydraulics failure and was forced out while battling back through the top 10, Barrichello retired in the pits with an oil leak and Nick Heidfeld was the first casualty after being rudely nerfed off the circuit by Buemi.
Alonso was told to stop by the team due to a lack of fuel in his Ferrari.
The stoppage of Alonso's car and his ride back to the pits may come to the attention of the officials, while Hamilton celebrates wildly.
Kovalainen finishes 16th for Lotus, well ahead of Glock, d'Ambrosio, Ricciardo and Chandhok.
Alonso has abandoned his Ferrari and is getting a lift back to the pits in Webber's Red Bull.
There are odd spots of rain in the air as the drivers tour back to the pits, but the showers ultimately held off today.
Out of the points, Perez finished 11th with Alguersuari 12th, di Resta 13th, Maldonado 14th and Buemi in 15th.
"If we keep pushing, these are the kind of results we can get," exclaims a delighted Hamilton to his McLaren team.
Kobayashi held off the attentions of Petrov over the final laps to claim ninth while the Russian takes the final point.
Nico Rosberg finishes seventh, some 10 seconds ahead of team-mate Schumacher.
Sutil takes a strong sixth for Force India as the last man on the lead lap.
The late pit scramble left Vettel fourth ahead of Massa fith, despite the German lacking his usual sparkle today on home soil.
Webber finishes a strong third but lost out to both Hamilton and Alonso on race pace today.
Alonso takes second in a great, determined drive from the Spaniard, who will be delighted to take points out of Vettel.
A sensational victory for the McLaren driver, with decisive overtaking moves making all the difference in a fantastic close fight for the win.
Lap 60: That puts Vettel up to fourth and Massa down to fifth as Hamilton heads for victory in his McLaren.
Lap 60: It's a rapid stop for Vettel and he's easily jumped Massa!
Lap 60: Massa and Vettel pit together for a last-lap switch of rubber.
Lap 59: Di Resta is still all over the back of Alguersuari but is so far unable to make the move as they continue fighting for 12th.
Lap 59: Vettel was told to do the opposite of Massa but both continue into the penultimate tour.
Lap 58: Massa and Vettel are still to stop and need a late switch to the hard rubber.
Lap 58: Schumacher rejoins in eighth spot, behind team-mate Rosberg.
Lap 57: Hamilton is told he is the fastest car on the circuit as he continues his course for a 16th career win today.
Lap 57: Schumacher is into the pits from seventh place for his set of medium compound tyres.
Lap 57: Di Resta in 13th has caught Alguersuari and the Scot will have a chance to pass in the remaining few laps.
