Lap 35: Championship leader Hamilton is fourth and now 16.9 seconds behind Massa, holding off Button and Webber.
Lap 36: Hulkenberg pits after losing that place to de la Rosa. It will be interesting to see if he can regain track position when the Sauber driver stops.
Lap 36: Jaime Alguersuari is finasll through on Adrian Sutil ... oh and now we see the reason. The German made an error at the Sachs curve and is into the pits.
Lap 37: Webber is putting the pressure on Button and is just 0.6 seconds down on the McLaren as they flash over the line.
Lap 37: Alonso clocks a 1m17.666s fastest lap with the gap to leader Massa now 2.5 seconds.
Lap 37: So Alguersuari takes over 15th with Sutil back out after a stop to clear the floor of the car of gravel, incurred during that off-track moment.
Lap 38: The gap between the top six and the rest of the field is astounding. Webber is just under 20s off the lead, but seventh place de la Rosa is a full 30 seconds behind him.
Lap 38: The lead gap is down to two seconds as Massa drops time passing Kovalainen.
Lap 38: Hamilton is told to save fuel as the McLaren team may need to use an aggressive fuel-save mode at the end of the race.
Lap 39: Michael Schumacher in 10th is closing in on team-mate Nico Rosberg again. The gap is now exactly one second. Petrov and Kobayashi are still in close attendance.
Lap 39: Massa now clears Glock's Virgin as the Ferrari pair battle through traffic.
Lap 39: Alonso is closing rapidly on Massa as the Brazilian faces di Grassi's Virgin.
Lap 39: Alonso clears di Grassi but the gap is down to just 1.1 seconds.
Lap 40: Massa is now clear of the tailend pack and has a lot of clear track infront of him, with Alonso right behind.
Lap 41: Sutil in 17th is flying on his new tyres after running off the road a few laps ago. He sets the fastest lap of the race with 1m17.300s.
Lap 41: Webber is being told on the Red Bull radio to drop to four seconds behind Button's McLaren.
Lap 42: Behind the top six, de la Rosa continues in seventh but has yet to stop. Kubica is eighth, Rosberg ninth and Schumacher still 10th.
Lap 42: Button is told of that message to Webber now he is no longer under threat from the Red Bull.
Lap 42: The gap between Massa and Alonso is just a second.
Lap 43: Rosberg is the one now losing pace at the bottom end of the top 10. Schumacher is still one second behind him, with the same gap to Petrov and then Kobayashi, who is 12th.
Lap 43: Vettel sets the fastest lap at 1m17.242s but is almost six seconds behind the Ferraris.
Lap 43: Barrichello is still pushing to catch this group in 13th. He is 1.6 seconds behind the Japanese driver.
Lap 44: Webber is now 4.6 seconds behind Button but setting reasonable pace as Red Bull looks to protect a problem with the Australian's engine.
Lap 44: Petrov makes an error and that has put Kobayashi right onto him again. Can the Japanese make the most of the opportunity this time?
Lap 44: No, because Petrov edges out the gap on the next lap to 0.7 seconds. Barrichello is now right there with them.
Lap 45: Vettel again takes the fastest lap at 1m17.122s.
Lap 46: Massa is just 0.9 seconds ahead at the line and are homing in on a pack of cars, with Hulkenberg's Williams next to be lapped.
Lap 46: Webber is told about his engine oil problem on the radio and that hard braking may help move some oil around the car.
Lap 46: Virgin currently leads the new teams battle with di Grassi 18th and Glock 19th. However, both have yet to stop and Kovalainen is just eight seconds behind di Grassi.
Lap 47: The gaps are beginning to stretch in that midfield battle for the tail of the points. Rosberg in ninth has 1.2s over Schumacher.
Lap 47: Massa now has that sizable train in sight which is headed by de la Rosa in seventh and spreads all the way back to Hulkenberg in 14th.
Lap 48: Massa is told on the radio "Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?"
Lap 48: Schumacher is now 2.3 seconds ahead of Petrov, then it is 1.6s to Kobayashi, then another 2.6s to Barrichello in 13th.
Lap 49: Massa slows and Alonso is through into the lead.
Lap 49: With instructions from the pits, there is sure to be some controversy over that switch-over between the Ferrari drivers.
Lap 50: Rob Smedley says "sorry" to his driver as the Brazilian falls into second place behind Alonso.
Lap 51: New leader Alonso is quickly closing on that train of cars and has already lapped Hulkenberg.
Lap 51: Vettel sets the fastest lap and is now just 2.9 seconds behind Massa.
Lap 51: Down in 14th, Hulkenberg's new tyres are helping him quite well. He has caught team-mate Barrichello as they are both lapped by the Ferraris.
Lap 52: Finally, de la Rosa pits from seventh. He takes on the super-soft tyres and rejoins, but out of the top 10.
