The field is formed up nicely. It should be a cracking start.

We await the lights ...
Lap 1: The five red lights go out and we are racing in Canada!
Lap 1: Hamilton gets away and chops across Vettel but there is contact between Liuzzi and Massa in the first corner.
Lap 1: Hamilton leads from Vettel, Alonso, Button and Webber as they charge down to the hairpin for the first time.
Lap 2: The Liuzzi incident is covered by yellow flags only as the race continues.
Lap 2: Webber is one of the big winners from that chaotic start as Liuzzi and Massa tangled in front of him. He is fifth.
Lap 2: De La Rosa pits at the end of the first lap and Kobayashi launches across the final chicane and slaps into the wall of champions.
Lap 2: Webber is eying a move on Button's McLaren for fourth place.
Lap 2: Liuzzi pits and so does Felipe Massa at the end of that hectic opening lap.
Lap 3: Hamilton leads into lap three with Vettel and Alonso just a second behind.
Lap 3: Alonso is pressing hard on the tail of second-place man Vettel, who doesn't seem all that happy on the harder rubber.
Lap 4: Webber continues to harry Button, with Kubica in the Renault right on the tail of that scrap.
Lap 4: Michael Schumacher made good work of the confusion in Turn 1 and runs in eighth position. Hulkenberg is ninth with Alguersuari in an amazing tenth.
Lap 4: Sutil is seventh in his Force India and keeping in touch with the Button/Webber/Kubica squabble.
Lap 4: Webber is looking for a move on Button but is forced to back out of it at Turn 3.
Lap 4: Buemi is 11th but look at this - Kovalainen is up to 12th and has passed several cars in the opening exchanges.
Lap 5: There is clear evidence of rear graining on Button's McLaren and that is helping Webber him on the opposing tyre compound.
Lap 5: Hamilton leads by a mere 0.9 seconds over Vettel, whose pace is good now his hard tyres are up to temperature. Alonso has fallen 1.7 second behind the Red Bull.
Lap 5: Kobayashi is the first retirement of the Canadian Grand Prix. The Japanese managed to park the Sauber on the left just after the pit exit, having tagged the champion's wall at the end of the opening lap.
Lap 6: Webber is sending his latest move on Button and he is through. It is a bold move from the Austrailian at Turn 8 to take fourth.
Lap 6: That demotes Button to fifth and puts him under pressure from Kubica, who is also on the harder tyres.
Lap 6: Felipe Massa sets the fastest lap of the race with 1m20.605s. The Ferrari is flying but he is down in 23rd.
Lap 7: Vettel is just 0.4 seconds off Hamilton and the leader may struggle to hold of the Red Bull as the McLarens fade on soft rubber.
Lap 7: Rosberg and Trulli pit together and rejoin the race at the rear of the pack.
Lap 7: A safety car would be very helpful for McLaren as Vettel is right with Hamilton.
Lap 7: Button pits to abandon the soft tyre gamble while Hamilton barely holds on in the lead.
Lap 8: Button, Sutil and Hulkenberg have all been into the pits to change tyres. They resume down in the teens.
Lap 8: Alonso and Webber are right on the case of this pair now in a four-way scrap for the lead in Canada!
Lap 8: Hamilton and Alonso are wheel-to-wheel out of the pits!
Lap 8: The changes are fantastic and Schumacher is up to a fine fourth position but yet to pit.
Lap 9: It resolves in the favour of Alonso after some very questionable moves by the former team-mates.
Lap 9: Alguersuari and Barrichello have been into the pits as we see Rosberg pass Bruno Senna for 17th position.
Lap 9: The order is Vettel from Webber, Kubica, Schumacher, Buemi with all those drivers yet to stop.
Lap 10: Rosberg now passes the Williams of Barrichello as the Brazilian exits the pits. Rosberg up to 16th place.
Lap 10: Alonso is sixth with Hamilton now behind him after those antics at the first stops.
Lap 10: Up front, Vettel leads by 1.7 seconds over team-mate Webber.
