Lap 40: The rain continues at parts of the circuit, but intermediates still look to be a reasonable tyre choice.
Lap 40: Alonso ran wide at the exit of Les Combes and his wheels lost traction on the kerb. He spun across the track and nosed the Ferrari into the barrier.
Lap 40: Hamilton, Webber and Kubica are in line behind the big Mercedes with just five laps remaining.
Lap 39: Hulkenberg pits and takes on full wet tyres after a thrilling handful of laps braving the conditions on slicks.
Lap 39: Hamilton is touring around to line up behind the safety car.
Lap 39: Vettel comes into the pits from 17th and takes on full wet tyres ... and Alonso is off! Fernando Alonso has crashed exiting Les Combes!
Lap 39: Alonso has spun and is stuck in the middle of the road.
Lap 39: But conditions are much, much better at the top of the hill at Les Combes.
Lap 38: The rain is now falling much heavier in the pits area and round La Source.
Lap 38: Behind the top four, Sutil is fifth, 7.4s behind Massa, with Schumacher sixth, Kobayashi seventh and Alonso eighth.
Lap 38: With the rain still not particularly intense at parts of the track, the next concern will be these intermediates quickly wearing out.
Lap 38: Hamilton leads in the light rain by 2.8 seconds from Webber.
Lap 37: Hulkenberg spins again, this time on the run through Turn 9. He did a full 360 degree spin and continued.
Lap 37: The rain is pretty light at this stage but those out on slicks are struggling ...
Lap 37: Hulkenberg has been off the road somewhere in the second sector of the lap. He drops back behind de la Rosa again and runs 13th.
Lap 37: Replays do indeed show Kubica slid through his pitbox, the costly mistake that has put him behind Webber.
Lap 37: Hamilton feels out the grip levels as he works around his first lap in tricky conditions.
Lap 36: Hamilton leads on intermediates from Webber, Kubica and Massa.
Lap 36: Kubica has missed his pitbox and Webber has passed him.
Lap 36: Liuzzi pits as does Trulli, Vettel who takes on full wet tyres ... di Grassi and Kovalainen were also in at the rear of the field.
Lap 36: Hamilton trails through Blanchimont and will surely pit this time.
Lap 35: Schumacher, Kobayashi, Alonso, Rosberg, Petrov, Alguersuari all pit. Hulkenberg goes through as de la Rosa pits.
Lap 35: The leader will have to tiptoe back to the pits but he is still ahead of Kubica and Webber.
Lap 35: Hamilton is off at Rivage and just survives that moment in the gravel!
Lap 35: Alonso still isn't able to get past Kobayashi ... they come into the pits together!
Lap 35: Buemi pits from 15th and certainly he will take on intermediates or even full wets. Yamamoto also pitted from 21st.
Lap 35: Hamilton starts another lap, while those further behind may now choose to make a stop.
Lap 34: Glock comes in from 19th place and takes on full wet tyres. This could be a great gamble by the German.
Lap 34: Hamilton is finding conditions slippery but as yet it is too dry to switch to intermediates.
Lap 34: Hulkenberg now makes a move to the outside of de la Rosa on the run to Les Combes, but he can't out-brake the Sauber driver. They remain 12th and 13th.
Lap 33: There are odd spots of rain in the air as we get within 10 laps of the finish at Spa.
Lap 33: A great helicopter shot reveals the rain that is on its way. It will approach the Curve Paul Frere where we saw the Q1 trouble yesterday in the next few minutes.
Lap 33: Hamilton clocks the benchmark time once again and his 1m49.069s puts him almost 13 seconds in the lead.
