Test 1: Dumbreck heads Schneider
It was just like 2001 all over again as Peter Dumbreck shaded Bernd Schneider for the top spot at EuroSpeedway Lausitz, but then they were racing as team-mates at AMG Mercedes and Dumbreck has since moved on to Opel
Dumbreck topped the opening test session of the weekend by 0.043s in his Astra Coupe from Schneider, although the times were overshadowed by Laurent Aiello's massive shunt at Turn 1. Aiello was fourth fastest before his crash, just behind his mate Jean Alesi in the second of the AMG Mercs.
Timo Scheider kept the Opel flag flying in fifth, just ahead of Marcel Fassler (AMG Mercedes) and Alain Menu (Opel). Jeroen Bleekemolen was eighth fastest in his Opel, continuing his recent impressive run of results, with the Audis of Mattias Ekstrom and Christian Abt rounding out the top 10. Series leader Christijan Albers, meanwhile, was only 11th fastest.
Recent Mercedes recruit Gary Paffett was 18th quickest, just a fraction ahead of Team Rosberg team-mate Stefan Mucke.
