Preview: Abt stars seek more glory
Victorious DTM team principal Hans-Jurgen Abt has said his drivers will be let off the leash at the Hockenheim finale in an effort to scoop more silverware
Zandvoort winner Mattias Ekstrom has an outside chance of claiming the runner-up spot from Mercedes' Bernd Schneider, while the squad's A-list drivers, Laurent Aiello and Christian Abt, can wrap up the teams' title this weekend.
"The team of Christian and Laurent is currently leading the teams' classification, of course, we want to clinch that title too," said Hans-Jurgen Abt. "All our drivers can race freely, so it will be maximum attack from all five of them. We want to provide a great show for the fans, the rest will come by itself."
New champion Aiello is looking for his fifth win of the season this weekend, but says he will pay back his team-mates if he gets the chance.
"My team-mates have helped me in an incredible way throughout the season," he said. "In Hockenheim, I will try to give them a little bit back and do everything to help Mattias to become runner-up or the team to claim the teams' title. Maybe we will even succeed in achieving both to round off this fantastic year."
Schneider, who cannot overhaul Aiello in the points race, said: "Once again congratulations to Laurent, who together with his Audi was unbeatable this year. But my motivation is unaffected and I will do everything to secure the runner-up title at the final round."
