Frentzen admits blame for crash
Heinz-Harald Frentzen admitted that it was not a car failure that caused his spectacular crash at Paddock Hill Bend during final qualifying today
Frentzen had just set his fastest lap, ultimately good enough for third on the grid, before he lost control of his Audi A4 on the entry to Paddock Hill Bend. He careered across the gravel trap before coming to a rest in the tyre wall with significant damage to his car.
"Paddock Hill Bend is a special corner here, and as a driver if you are going for the ultimate lap and there is a little bit of an area where you don't feel the car much because the car is bouncing up and down," Frentzen said.
"When I turned in the car in it was a little bit too light.
"I had a few moments in the weekend when I had enough confidence to get it back but this time I had no car. I had put some more front grip on for qualifying so and that made Paddock a little bit more [difficult]."
